Sun Mountain Door

Buyer beware. I hired Sun Mountain to duplicate the historic front door on my Denver victorian home. We had numerous conversations over the course of months about how important it was that it matched my own door and the other doors in the row of victorian townhouses where I live. I was assured that the CAD computer program they use would get the door right.

The price reflected this expertise! The door Sun Mountain delivered is a completely different style than the antique door, and I can't use it. Not only is it different, it is a modern style. Sun Mountain's response is that I am solely responsible for their mistake because I didn't "catch" the difference in wood pattern on the final technical drawing.

Sun Mountain did not "catch" their own basic mistake and take zero responsibility for making a different door?! They did say they hope I can "find a use for my beautiful door"

I recently ordered 13 two panel knotty alder door slabs for 11 openings. Two of my openings were double doors. All doors were pre-finished and pre-hung with the exception of my double sliding closet doors. I did have to have the flat jambs custom cut to my needs, which presented no problem. The overall craftsmanship exceeded my expectations considerably.

I also ordered matching knotty alder pre-finished trim moulding and again the craftsmanship was superb. I live in Birch Bay, Washington, so packaging and shipping from Colorado was necessary. I have never seen a more thorough and professional packaging effort in all of my many years of having product shipped to me either at my home of my former place of employment (I'm retired now).

There was absolutely no shipping damage to any of the product that I ordered. FedEx did a great job of making the delivery to my home. I'd give Sun Mountain Custom Doors 6 stars if that were an option!

We did a large remodel on a 4,000 sq ft house and of all of the materials we purchased, by FAR the doors we bought from Sun Mountain were the most eye-popping of all. We did some glass doors in the office and a gorgeous barn door. They're the centerpieces of the home and we honestly look at them more as art than doors. I cannot overstate how beautiful these doors are. My only regret is not incorporating more into my home. Thank you Sun Mountain!

Being from New York, we were very apprehensive about ordering our new front door from Colorado, based on only the internet. Fortunately, we went with our gut and the reviews. We received our double, arched fronted door for our new construction home and stared in awe! Sun Mountain, Thom (salesman) and the whole crew that worked on our door delivered a beautiful, masterpiece.

I had a good experience with sun mountain doors. I replaced 20 interior doors and all the trim and baseboards in my house. There were some minor problems with the product stain and measurements, but Sun mountain made everything right and all in all the product was an excellent quality. Ryan was very accessible as a sales person and I would use them again for sure.

I learned about Sun Mountain Doors 15 years ago when working for a luxury home builder in Summit County. They have always kept their word for me and deliver quality doors and trim. They come out to measure everything and just like any custom product, we triple-check specs before placing the order. Lead time is reasonable (4-6 weeks), similar to the window manufacturer we work with.

This purchase was done completely over the internet, having never seen the product. i don't live in the same state as the company, but their website seemed promising, with LOTS of options. i needed an interior door that was half glass for a study. apparently these types of doors are about as rare as unicorns, but i managed to find sun mountain after doing a google search. there was a 6 week processing time from the time i ordered and a three day shipping time. the door was packaged extremely well and shipped via fedex freight. it arrived with no damage and was exactly what i was picturing in my head. i picked a knotty walnut with a clear finish. the glass in the pic looks cloudy, but it still has the protective film on it. i ordered regular clear glass. highly recommend this company if you are looking for a unique door. we love it!

Purchased a custom house full of custom doors. Salesman was awful! You can track him down! Was never told about and special things that could be done for exterior doors like mortised lock sets. MOST custom door hardware is mortise type, never asked or told about that or optional "safe door" type locking systems. Was extremely difficult to find NICE hardware in non mortise type!

One exterior door had to be shipped three times. Hinges were shipped in wrong color and never discussed with us, salesman made the assumption what we wanted and never discussed with us, when questioned his only response was you approved the order and should have recognized the acronym for the wrong hardware. When asked who made the decision he said that was the current typical color. The additional hinges held up completion and cost an additional $1,250.00. Sad when spending $35k on doors! Buyer beware!

I have used Sun Mountain pre-finished doors and trim in more than 40 homes that I have built over the past 20 years. Their quality has been consistently very high throughout. I was once convinced to try another company to save a few dollars, was extremely disappointed, and immediately returned to Sun Mountain. You do have to be careful about examining your order before signing it as with most any custom order.
