American Overhead Door

Had AOD replace my garage door broken springs after going through my home warranty program and they were chosen to do the work. However, after service was complete, I kept receiving a bill from AOD when I had spoken to my warranty program multiple times and they ensured that the work was covered. Reps from AOD kept telling me that normally that work isn't covered by warranty companies, without actually calling themselves. Very poor customer service and just laziness to keep sending overdue invoices when they just needed to submit the completed work request to get paid by the warranty company.

These guys were AMAZING! Fast, knowledgeable, identified and fixed the problem right away! Love the quietness of the new opener! Plus, I can now have Amazon Prime packages delivered inside my garage. Definitely will use these guys for any future door/opener needs!

Both Torsion springs snapped in our garage and our car was stuck inside. No matter what I tried I just could not get the door to open manually. I called American Overhead Door and within a few hours a technician came out and fixed everything. Great experience from the moment I called to when the technician left. 100% would recommend to anyone.

Update: I centered the chain guide bar, which was 3 inches off. I also reprogrammed the opener so it would close at the right spot. I decided to do it myself because I have a tight schedule. I do appreciate the response from the Manager. We had a opener installed in October 2019, right before we moved in. No one explained anything about how to lubricate or take care of it to anyone.when I got home from work, I was not impressed with the installation as the chain was never adjusted and is very loose.

The chain guide/bar is far from the center of the door. The opener is supposed to be top of the line, but is very very noisy.the other opener on the other garage door is 20+ years old and is much quieter. Also, they didn't install any light bulbs, because "they don't come with the opener." I am not impressed. I could have done a better installation job, if I had the time. Now, 2 years later, looks like I'll just do the readjustments myself and see if that might help with the loudness of the opener.

Its hard to find good workers and decent service now days. I'm just tired of poor workmanship and wasting my time contacting businesses to correct poor quality installations. If you want it done right, you just need to do it yourself or if you see a review of good work done by a named installer, specifically request that installer. Don't just settle for the first opening available.

Absolutely great service from this company. We had an issue with our existing door. While scheduling the repair, I we also asked for the cost of a new one. The technician was great and fixed our door the next day. We also had a quote for a new door with opener. When there was a delay with receiving the door, they let us know right away. I was actually expecting some sort of delay because I requested a non-stock door and everything is delayed with Covid manufacturing/delivery.

The door arrived sooner than the delayed expectation date and they installed it right away. Vey polite technician removed my ancient door and installed the new one. I did not realize how decrepit my old door really was, and super loud. I cannot even hear this door go up or down. I am happy every time I look at the door. Great Job!

My order came in early which was a wonderful surprise! I had the best installer who left my garage cleaner than he found it. Great value, great service and overall a great experience.

Had garage door replaced. Cody did a great job, besides doing the door, he fixed a few support issues and did a thorough clean up afterwards. Considering prices we got from other companies, the price for this company was very reasonable. Would definitely recommend.

I recently had a technician out to service my door. He explained what the issue was, gave me maintenance pointers, and it has been running smoothly and quietly ever since. Great all-around experience. Highly recommend.

Called American Overhead Door because we wanted to upgrade our two doors to those "wood looking" type doors. I was expecting the sales guy (forgot his name) to schedule an appointment, come out and help us select the right doors. Instead he just directed us to a website. This was disappointing for what is certainly a $5,000 - $7,000 purchase. Lazy is another word that comes to mind.

I called 2 other fox valley garage door companies and they came onsite and offered suggestions and suggested different doors in various price ranges. So we never got off the ground with AOD because the sales process was basically nonexistent.

Stay AWAY! We purchased 2 top of the line doors. The salesman Matt barely gives you the time of day, is dismissive and condescending. The installer was totally incompetent and needed to come back multiple times. Matt certainly has not gone out of his way to address any issues or to assure customer satisfaction. I give this place ZERO stars.

We were looking to upgrade our garage doors and had heard nothing but good things about American Overhead Door. When we wanted a quote they were quick and responsive and the price was unmatched. The technician who came out was respectful, neat, and did a great install.even took the time to explain some preventative maintenance items. Overall a great experience from start to finish!

I don't normally do bad reviews but I am right now! A couple months ago I purchased a new garage door opener with battery powered back up from American Overhead Door. Power went out, I used the battery ONE time and it instantly started the 30 second apart beeping signifying it was a bad battery per the manufacturer. I contacted American Overhead Door, first they dispute that i had it installed with a battery because they can't find the paperwork.

Then they say I can bring the battery in and exchange it. I point out to them that it was installed by them and is under warranty and that they should come and replace it. They then tell me they are not going to come replace it until power is back up!. They also say that they would need to reprogram the opener and check to make sure the battery is bad.

When I tell him that makes no sense, He (Mat) rudly tells me "that's the way it's going to be". Nice customer service! I don't need a battery if my power is working! I contacted the manufacturer directly. The opener doesn't need reprogramming, everything is stored in the board even when power is lost. American Overhead Door obviousness doesn't know their product.

You take one battery out and replace with new battery. That's it. Also, the battery would be bad and need replacing since it has been more than 48 hours without a charge. I have no tolerance for liars and poor customer service.

Not impressed! An installer showed up to replace 2 garage doors. Very testy and rude attitude. When he discovered he would need to add a few new pieces of wood which should be a normal routine when replacing a 30 year old garage door. He tried to pawn the whole thing off on another contractor who had nothing to do with installation of the door. Then within 5 minutes had his tools packed up, and gone off the job.

On a Friday. There are 2 garage doors currently missing from the openings leaving the home owners garage wide open for at least the weekend. While the new doors sit there. I highly recommend looking for another overhead door company! This should have been a routine door replacement! There should be no issues with having to add a few blocks of wood for your mounting brackets.

I needed to have my garage door inspected fearing we would need to replace it. Both the person who scheduled my appointment and the service professionals excelled at customer service, knowing their products and putting my mind at ease for cost! When the service professionals, Tanner and Troy, arrived they were also very polite, knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I highly recommend this company and the two professionals (Tanner and Troy) who helped me.

Don't even bother calling this company--they're not reliable. I went to them to replace 2 panels of my garage door. They said those panels aren't made anymore and I needed to replace the whole door. The guy said he would stop by sometime on Wednesday morning. I waited all morning but no one ever showed up! I didn't get a call for another couple weeks and by then, I had found someone else to do the work.

I hired AOD to install a garage door at a rental property approx 2 years ago. This May the opener detached itself from the wall and fell on a tenant's car - causing more than $1,100 in damage. After several calls and them telling me there was no reason a garage opener would detach (unless.it did), AOD finally agreed to fix the door opener. The first visit was unsuccessful and after more follow up and them telling me the door was tested and working (when it didn't) - they had to return again to install an additional bracket.

Since that time, I've followed up multiple times about the damage to the tenant's car and the company is clearly avoiding me. It has been one month since the incident and AOD continues to avoid my calls and does not return calls after I leave messages. Be warned. They do not stand by their work and choose to avoid a situation rather than resolve it to ensure a happy customer.

My garage door was damaged Thursday. Was repaired the following Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the morning. Excellent service. Tony the installer did a wonderful job. Thank you for the prompt service.

***Updated June 3, 2017*** Stephanie did return my phone call and I have a credit on my credit card. This is a fail for business processes, but the company itself seems to have a good heart. My 3 stars is based on how difficult it is to get them to fix their own mistakes. ***Updated May 31, 2017*** Changing this back to a 1 star review. No credit on credit card and Stephanie didn't take my phone call. ***Update May 24, 2017*** As of 2:30 PM today I hadn't heard back from Stephanie, so I called up and was told that she ran a credit through on my card today.

I believe her. When asked about what happened, initially she stated that American Overhead Door is transitioning to a new system. So they have an old system and a new system that they are moving to. Sometimes people will submit a bill twice. When informed that I actually got a telephone call requesting the CCV number again the next day for that charge, Stephanie stated that there must have been a miscommunication between the 2 schedulers.

She couldn't think of any other reason. I've changed from a 1 star review to a 4 star review because * Honesty is huge with me * The fact that they were able to come to my house the day after I called them for the repair. * The contractors, engineers, and consultants I've talked to have indicated that they have been a reasonable company. It's a 4 star instead of 5 star review review because * Didn't return my phone call when they credited my card or do any research on what exactly caused the issue. * I paid $112 for installation of a less than $15 part (anybodies price for Ace hardware's MOST expensive locking handle) that took less than an hour of time, that includes all travel time. * They still have no system/process with training in place to stop this from happening again. * I had to spend an hour of my own time, which I was NOT reimbursed for, to attempt to troubleshoot the issue with their lack of process and training. ***Original Review*** We had American Overhead Door Replace a garage door T-Handle on May 10, 2017.

They charged us $112 on May 10, 2017. Then called me up the next day stating they didn't have my CCV code to run the charge. I hadn't checked to see if the charge ran through, so I gave it to them. They then ran the charge for $112 again on May 11, 2017. It is May 23, 2017 now. I called American Overhead Door today at 4 PM and spoke with a gentleman who never offered his name.

I was told that the accountant's name who I needed to speak to was Stephanie (spelling not verified) and she was gone for the day. I requested Stephanie call me back tomorrow and indicate exactly what happened, what they are doing to prevent it from happening again, and why it wasn't caught in their system. I will update this review as soon as I have heard from American Overhead Door.

Avoid this company at all costs. They have done a few jobs for us in the past and every time we ended up getting nickel and dimed for things that weren't broken to begin with. This company creates more work so they can keep coming back and charging you again and again. Do not do business with Overhead Door.
