What wonderful things can I say about Barcol doors? They were out the next day! Squeezed me in and explained the problem after they solved it! Lisa you were wonderful about getting back with me and I could not have been happier with my tech! Such professionalism with a cheery smile and the price was a lot less then I expected! I called Barcol via telephone; described my situation. A cable had snapped while my garage door was in the process of closing. After a brief discussion, the agent on the telephone gave me a quote. I accepted and made an appoint. (Dumb, I know, did not get a second quote.) Two representatives came to my house, and made the repair. The total cost was $ 171.84 more than the verbal quote. Was told for parts needed.
Per discussions with neighbors and co-workers, I called two other companies, and asked for a quote, listing all of the parts (including the extra parts added) and installation that are printed on my statement. Both of these companies gave me quotes, which include the extra parts, at the amount, just about to the dollar, of my first/original quote from Barcol, before Barcol added parts and $ 171.84 while at my house. I strongly suggest you compare with other companies. Easily found in Max Values, and Market Magazine, etc.

I have decided to write a review on Barcol Overhead Door Company on Brookpark Rd. due to the excellent service I recently received from them. Compared to the other garage door company I was using, I prefer this place much more. The prices were reasonable and the staff was helpful and friendly. The employee they sent to my house got in and out in a decent amount of time without any procrastinating and I was happy with the results. I recommend looking into this small business.

Most of my reviews are 4-5 stars. I prefer to write positive reviews. However, I don't want anyone else to experience the immense frustration and disappointement that I experienced with this company. Whatever you do- do NOT work with this company. They were incredibly nice on the phone and I was so 'sold' by their customer service that I chose them over less expensive options. Then- they came out to install the door and said the springs were the wrong size and charged us $65 for the visit - when they didn't do anything but look at them and leave. Next, they said our springs were custom so it would be an additional $200.
At first, I was ok with the custom spring charge b/c I figured that they were legitimately more expensive but I did take issue with the undisclosed $65 charge which they put on my CC without telling me. In the original quote the extremely nice person on the phone never said they'd charge $65 if the spring size was different. She never mentioned anything about that.
I politely expressed that I was not happy about that charge and was never told about the possibility of the charge and the customer service went from nice to cold incredibly quick. I am usually a pretty good judge of character- so I was quite suprised by this. In the end, I called other companies and found that Barcol's extra charge for custom springs was extremely high (double others) and that none of the other companies charge for spring-measuring.
It ended up being less expensive for me to be stuck paying the $65 (since they refused to refund it) and have another company install the door than to continue the job with them. This is clearly a book not to judge by the cover. don't even waste a minute on a phone call.
