I called to have a new door installation that overdoors did for me diagnosed as the door would not go down without the button being held. I understand the door is out of warranty due to time, (regardless of the fact that the building sat vacant for 3 years and it wasn't being used) and would need to pay for the diagnosis, and ultimately, the repair of the door.
Not a problem. In talking to the owner he had stated that they needed a $250 credit card hold to look at the door, (also not a problem). Here is where it all gets out of hand. I asked "What is the diagnostic fee", "what is worst case scenario for this problem", "is the minimum charge $250.00 or is that more of a retainer?" At which point he yells at me, and states pay the 250 or i'm hanging up. Meanwhile, I said can you look up what was done on the last order?
I need to walk to the door and give you the number. Guy says I don't have time for this nonsense and is going to hang up on me. Don't do business with these assholes. When it comes to a 10k door install they are hot to trot. servicing their work? good luck.

Our garage door broke. My car was trapped inside. The door had a sticker on the inside from when it was installed. The phone was answered by a VERY courteous lady who said she could have someone out in under four hours! She gave me a good idea of the charges if it was what it appeared to be (broken pulley cable). I was thrilled and booked the appointment.
A very kind and professional young man called me a bit earlier than expected and said he was on his way. He arrived and was considerate of our home. He diagnosed the problem in under one minute and said it would take him the minimum billable time to fix. He also found a broken hinge and I said to fix it and he lubricated the tracks. He fixed everything flawlessly and even happily answered the questions I had about a replacement door opener. The bill was LESS than expected! This was beyond optimal for an unexpected repair. I could not be happier.

Thank you, Overdoors of Illinois! My garage had been making a loud screeching noise upon open and close. It was majorly annoying. I reached out to another company, scheduled an appointment and they didn't show. I called Overdoors of Illinois at 11:39am. The young lady who answered the phone was pleasantly professional . I really appreciated that. The tech, Steve, was at my house by 12.
He was done before 1. He showed me what was causing the cringe-worthy noise and how to care for the mechanics on the door. He also determined that my ball bearings were shot and we were quickly getting to a point of not being able to even open the garage. Thank you again, Overdoors of Illinois!

I bought a set of springs for my garage door about 10 years ago. I installed them myself and they worked great until one of them broke again. 10 years is about the life span of a spring so I called Overdoors to by new set of springs. Unfortunately due to insurance regulations you can't buy new springs which makes no sense to me because springs are available at Menards, Farm and fleet and other stores however sizes I needed were not common and easy to get.
I was not happy and I was forced to request a service from Overdoors. Their service truck showed up on time, work was performed properly and technician was polite and professional. I wish I could repair myself for I'm capable of that kind of work, but under the circumstances I recommend Overdoor.

They installed the original garage doors on our home and we use them for routine maintenance of the mechanisms as well. We've used Overdoors NUMEROUS times and they perform exceptionally. As real estate developers, we always seek the best contractors to enhance our brand.we look forward to our continued business relationship.

I recently requested a service call. The technician came out and told me that there was nothing that could be done. He then gave me a quote for a new garage door and charged me $60 for my troubles. I called another company out to give me another quote for a new door. Alas, they were able to immediately repair my door and charged me $200. I called Overdoors back to ask for a refund stating that they could have repaired my door but just wanted to sell me a new door. He refused to refund my money. I do NOT recommend this company to anyone.

My first review, but I've had such terrible experience I have to warn others. Stay away from this company at all costs. They lie about how long it will take for the garage door to come in. When delays happen they don't apologize at all and blame everything on the manufacturer. Our door was ordered in November with a two to three week lead time.
It wasn't delivered for the first time until over two months later. When it was finally installed, the top panel and bottom two panels were stucco texture and the middle three panels were wood grain texture. They didn't apologize, just blamed the manufacturer agian. A month later, they came back with replacement panels. This time I got four stucco texture panels and two micro groove panels. Again, it was not the fault of Overdoors of Illinois.
Nothing ever is apparently. They didn't apologize and were in no hurry at all to correct the problem. The bottom line is that we ordered our door in November 2016 and the correct installation didn't happen until April 2017. We thought we were finally free of having to deal with these nasty people but we were wrong. As the weather has cooled, the vinyl trim that goes around the edge of the door on the outside has pulled away from the edge of the garage door opening.
There is now a gap of about 1/8" around the door. I called Overdoors of Illinois to come take a look, assuming that they would at least caulk to fill the gap around the vinyl trim they installed. Instead, our original salesman, Mike, informed me that he had driven by my house and "it looked fine to him" and I should have my contractor caulk it if I wanted.
I shouldn't have been surprised when he said it wasn't their fault. Again, nothing ever is. I told him that since this had happened I had looked at other peoples doors and that it seemed like our door might be a tiny bit too small. I told him I knew it wouldn't be worth replacing the door but asked if we could have avoided this by having to door be just a tiny bit wider to cover the gaps.
He said that was impossible that there wasn't room. There is plenty of room. There's six inches of space on either side of the door. It would've only had to be a half inch to an inch wider to cover these gaps. Then he again tried to blame the contractor and say it should be caulked. I told him I understood that caulk was the most practical solution at this point, but again asked why the door wasn't slightly larger.
He got very nasty and started to ridicule me at which point I hung up. My door is under warranty but I'm going to have to have this problem addressed by another company at my own expense. What a horrible experience from beginning to end.

Overdoors installed 2 openers for me, my technician was Paul and he was great. I wanted specific models installed and I found it difficult to find dealers that had the models in stock and that could do the job. Overdoors installed my openers within 24 hours and they are working great. Mike also helped me and he is very knowledgeable. I would recommend them to everyone.

Called after hours and left a message of jammed door. Got a call at 7:00 the next morning explaining the rates. Workman arrived at 9:15. He was personable and efficient. He replaced the cables. Readjusted the tension and alignment. Reattaced the opener that had ripped from the wall when the door jammed. He finished in less than 40 minutes. Best service I've ever had and reasonable.

The quality of the door and the workmanship is excellent. However, the customer service is awful! Was given a day & time for the installation and the worker was 3 hours late. Never received a courtesy call and no apologies from anyone. Then, worker had to come out again to complete the stripping. Once again. Worker never called or showed up on the scheduled day. No one cares about the customer with this company!

When our garage door opener stopped working, we called Overdoors because they were the ones who had initially installed the system. Not only do they no longer come to Evanston, not even to service their own work. but they couldn't recommend/didn't know of anyone else in the area who worked on the specific system they had installed. Totally useless.
