I've had two awesome experiences with Thomas V Giel Garage Doors now. The first time was when my garage door broke and needed repair. The technician was able to come out within two days, repaired the problem for a fair price, and went above and beyond. Not only did he replace the broken spring, but he shored up the old wooden door, and made the door function better then ever.

That bought us the time to get a new garage door in. The salesperson wasn't pushy at all, and helped us select the perfect choices. Today was install day, and they did a fantastic job. The door was installed fast and the guys doing it were extremely professional. My wife and I are so happy with finished product and attention to detail. This is one of those experiences where we felt like we more than got our money's worth!

I contacted Thomas V. Giel Garage Doors for an estimate to repair a small dent in a panel of my garage door. The dent was there when I bought my house 7 years ago, and I finally figured I'd try to get an estimate for repair. When I called to schedule the appointment, the receptionist noted that if it wasn't possible to repair the dent, they might be able to give me an estimate to replace just that panel of my garage door. Fine. Frank was the technician who arrived.

His job was clearly to sell me a new garage door with all the trimmings. Within the time it took for me to walk from my front door to my garage door, he already noted what "bad shape" two other panels of my door were in (the ones without dents). When I clearly stated that I'm not in the market for a new door, I merely wanted an estimate to repair the dent (or replace that panel), he looked inside and again started noting all of the things "wrong" with my door. (i.e, my springs are old and will likely fail soon, a hinge is loose inside, etc).

And oh by the way, the dent doesn't' show on the inside of the door, so there's nothing he can do to actually repair it. At this point, I was so turned off I just wanted him to leave. I thanked him for his opinion and he then says well there might be a service charge. I stated I was never informed of a service charge when I called for this estimate, and I wasn't requesting he do any actual work.

He then called his boss and told me he "took care of it" and I wouldn't owe anything. Interestingly, I've had one issue with the function of my garage door in 7 years, and had the sensors replaced by another company. I think I need to call them back. I can guarantee that when I do actually have an issue with the functioning of my current garage door, Thomas V. Giel will be the last place I'll call.

Arrived on time, very professional, great install that went smoothly. Techs even took the time to learn my new openers into my car's built in remote. They weren't pushy with upsells and were very friendly. All around great experience.

We got our new front door installed today by Thomas V Giel Garage Door. The service guys (Taylor, Ray, Landon and Joe) were great. They showed up exactly when they said they were and worked hard all day to make sure this door fit and looked perfect! I can't say enough about the fabulous experience from beginning to end we had working with Thomas V Giel and would highly recommend them for garage and interior doors.

Recently contacted Thomas Giel garage doors doors to have a new garage door opener installed. I was provided options when I called and what the price of installation would be. Definitely wanted the latest technology! Within a few days received the call for install and Justin and Evan were wonderful to deal with. Came prepared, friendly, so efficient and the new opener was up in no time at all. Cleaned up and you never knew they were here.

Love the updated technology with the MyQ app and how the opener works in general. Thanks to everyone for your professionalism, knowledge of your products and terrific service. I highly recommend Thomas V Giel to anyone for your garage door needs!

1/2022: Our garage door broke and needed a new garage door opener on a day when we had a foot of snow. I was worried because I would not be able to get my car out in the am to get to work. They had a lot of people call off but she said they would at least get someone out to get it open for the car to be moved out. Well 2 above and beyond nice workers came and even was able to replace my door opener!

One even helped shovel part of my driveway and salt it, so I could safely pull my car out! I told him that was not part of the job description. These 2 guys made my day which was not a good one! Thank you so much for superb service on an awful weather day!

On Christmas the garage door cable broke. As my father was entering the hospital this posed a problem for my mother. I called and left a message and on Monday morning Patrick called and said he would make it his first stop. Patrick showed up when he said he would and promptly took care of the issue. Great service and even better people.

On November 18, 2021 around 3:30 PM on W Ingomar Rd a driver for this company almost hit my two children getting off the bus. I spoke with owner of the company and assured me that the person was reprimanded and it will never happen again.

Awning installation was seamless and professional. Pricing is reasonable. If you need JUST the fabric replaced, this is an amazing option for you! HIGHLY recommend!

He was very professional. he explained everything he was doing as well as telling me the causes and affects on different things and why they happen to the garage doors. Give him a raise! They did an AWESOME job! The salesman was very helpful helping me pick out arch designed garage windows to match the windows of our house. The two installers were great! I would definitely recommended them! A 10 out of 10! We love our new garage door!

Excellent service and friendly workers. Everything was cleaned up and hauled away. Prompt and efficient. Quality product, I love my new awning. Better quality than I've had from other companies. I would definitely recommend and use them again.

My garage door opener stopped working. Anthony (service tech) called me back first thing in the morning (8:30ish) arranged to come out between 12-1. Showed up promptly, fixed everything, reinstalled my motion sensors, oiled up the hinges and got everything back in perfect working order and then some. All this for the "service charge" rate of 99 bucks. Spent a good 10 minutes talking to me afterwards as well of all the "gotchas" in garage door maintenance and such. I rarely have fantastic experiences in contractor world but this was definitely one of them. Really good guys.

After a full week of major house repairs, I thought I was finished with disasters, at least for a while. I listened to the weather forecast at the end of the day and learned there would be a frost overnight. I trudged back down to the garage to gather covers to protect the early blooms in the garden -- and discovered that my garage door could not be opened; the pulley and the cable were dangling dramatically overhead. So, *that* was the source of the "BOOM!" which the cats and I heard during the late afternoon. (I had searched through the house and around the outside but had found nothing amiss.) I would not be able to drive anywhere until the garage door could be opened again.

As soon as Thomas V. Giel opened the following morning, I called for help. Astoundingly, within one hour of my call, my garage door was repaired! John fixed the broken cable and, at my request, replaced the other cable as well as a precaution. He was pleasant and efficient. The cost of the repair was *less* than what I thought it would be. This is the third or fourth garage repair over the roughly forty years I have lived at my house. I always have called Thomas V. Giel Garage Doors for help and will continue to do so!

Extremely professional. Very well organized very Great to work with. Gave me all the information I needed to take care of the door afterwards as well. Very professional would highly recommend to anybody! This install was in the city of Pittsburgh down a very very narrow driveway / alleyway and they made it work. We were pleased with our experience with Thomas Giel Garage Doors. They were prompt in their arrivals for both the estimate and the installation. We appreciated their door style advice in trying to match with our home. They were a little more expensive than the other companies we got estimates from but they had been recommended to us by family so we decided to go with them.

Half of the payment is due when ordering (required for your door to be ordered), we ordered Nov 5 and the door was ready for install Dec 29 (we had been quoted 10-12 weeks so this was within the expected range), and the other half was due the day of the install. The only reason I took off one star was because the two guys who did the install left some small debris items and didn't seem to have incredibly high attention to detail. Still, we love the door and it seems to have been installed well so we would recommend the company.

I showed Rory my neighbors yawning which covers their entire deck. I trusted that his measurements were accurate so the yawning I ordered would cover my entire deck. The yawning is not wide enough and the sizing is completely off. I spoke with Candice and she refuses to make right. I was completely mis-represented by this Company! It is shoddy to give anyone a yawning that only covers part of the deck!

I had my garage door motor, the track and the keypad replaced and was very pleased with their professionalism and their demeanor. All three of them were very polite and personable. Jack, Donny & Brian all introduced themselves and shook my hand - unusual in today's world. They were even kind enough to ask me if they could fix something in my garage that could be dangerous for people coming in and out. They did a great job of explaining how everything worked. Definitely someone worth hiring!

We had a garage door 4 commercial grade garage doors installed, they refused to come back and final adjust them, and when they did, they charge us for the service call. When I complained we fought about it and i decided it was not worth the effort to fight over a $300 bill. Keep in mind I own a large contracting business and this is highly unusual.

In addition today 5/10/19 one of those garage door operators late in the day (3:45 PM) would not function, when we called Ed Giel said it would be (ready?) $500-$700 for a service call. I would not recommend this company at all. - Marty

I purchased a new garage door from them. The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because the installer left staples on my garage floor.some in pieces that I could run in my tires or get in my dogs paws. I wish they would clean up when done. I have a broom!

After a week and several phone calls back and forth between with the sales rep, myself, my tenant and Candice my problem was resolved. I received a call from Candice and was told I did not have to pay the $223. I believed since I prepaid $1650 in August and waited until October for doors to be adjusted. When problems started to occur again in December they should have been taken care of.

We have used this company many times and I have been pleased with their service. Most recently, Sam was the technician and and he fixed the two issues with our garage doors. They were accomodating in terms of getting us onto the schedule and I would highly reccomend them.

After I received a quote from Thomas V giel for new awning, we decided to have them install it. After a quality install, my wife had a few questions. Not only did the salesman come to our home, the owner of the company came as well to answer our questions. While they were there, I asked for a quote to repair my garage door. After the technicians finished the work, not only had they completed the scope of work, I believe they cleaned the garage door and adjusted it because it opens better than it ever has.

Great, speedy service. Our garage door wasn't closing properly, so I called that evening and a repair person named John came out the next morning. He was nice, fixed the problem quickly (broken photo eye wire), and it's working great now. Also, after I had paid I asked him how to replace the battery in the remote opener for the garage when the time came, and he just put in a new battery for me right then at no extra charge. Nice service, would definitely recommend!

Bought a barn door style garage door from them almost 17 years ago & it's been terrific. But today I was concerned about some deterioration of the composite materials used on it. Ed the owner personally came to my home the same day and showed me what I had neglected in cleaning the materials, and now it looks like new. He personally showed me how to clean the door annually (very easy process) & while he was here replaced one of my remote control batteries. SUPERB service and knowledge! And from the owner, no less! Really terrific company & ownership!

Never, ever again! The treatment I received over the phone was downright appalling. The man I spoke with not only wanted to charge me for two men to give me an estimate ($99 per man, per hour), but it was as if the moment he heard a woman's voice on the other end of the phone he could not have been more irritated. He was clearly annoyed that I had even called, and his subsequent comments led me to tell him I would take my business elsewhere before promptly hanging up. Don't waste your time with someone who doesn't deserve your business.

We ordered 2 new garage doors and 2 new openers from the owners daughter who came to our home, showed us samples, options and pricing. She was very conscientious of our budget and came in well below what we thought we would pay. After setting the expectation that it would likely be 5-6 weeks before the doors came in to be installed, we were a bit concerned with trying to manage an installation of this size during the holiday season, but she told us she'd do her best to get them here prior to then.and then delivered.

The installers showed up ( a team of 4) and efficiently dismantled the old and hung the new with no hiccups inside of 4 hours on a VERY cold day. They took the time to explain general maintenance, the functionality of the new openers, and left, leaving my garage cleaner than when they came in. Would I recommend these guys again? In a heartbeat. They did what they said they would, came in under budget, and did so more quickly than I anticipated.

The new doors look great and the new openers are so quiet that it feels like a new house. Don't go to the Big Box stores if you need new Garage doors or openers. They've been doing this for over 50 years, are Family owned and operated, and actually understand customer service and value.

I had a weird experience with my garage door repair. BJ called and gave them my availability to meet them for the following day and was told they could work me in. Then they called me the next day and said they could not come at my available time and that I would probably have to wait until the following week. And then they showed up. Strange. The repair person was a little grumpy.

But he knows his stuff. About 20 minutes of removing my broken spring, replacing both springs and multiple openings and closings and some adjustments later, I was back in business. And my door opens very smoothly. Happy with the service. I will probably be calling them when I finally decide to replace my 25 year old door.
