The Pompei Stained & Fused Glass studio was founded by Joseph Pompei in 1979. Joseph was joined by his wife, Ivy Pompei, as a full time partner in 1981. After being located in Medford MA for 32 years, the Pompei studio moved to Western Avenue Studios, now the largest artist colony of its kind in the US.
Each Pompei commission is handmade, drawing upon skills that date back to the 11th century. Stained glass designs include Victorian, Frank Lloyd Wright & Prairie, Arts & Crafts, Mission, and Craftsman styles, along with Contemporary and Abstract design themes. At Pompei Stained Glass the design of a window unites line, color and texture with the purposeful, artful, and magical potentials of light.

Stained glass window inserts for Andersen windows has been a Pompei Stained Glass specialty item for the past 35 years. In fact, we inspired Andersen to create their own line of art glass inserts. Pompei inserts are made-to-order and designed for easy installation into any style Andersen 400 & A series windows, including Tilt-Wash double hung windows.

Joe created stained glass windows for our recent renovation. As part of the renovation, smaller windows that had been casements became fixed windows. It wasn't functional and looked a little boring. Joe's stained glass windows finished the space. The final product looks like it was built in place. We could not be happier with how this project turned out.

Most overused word in the English language: awesome. So, I'll use some words that are much less often heard but perfectly apropos: Supercalifragialistickexpialidocious. Fantasmagorical. Beyond our fondest expectations. Joe and Ivy adapted one of their circular geometric designs to create a pair of trapezoids to straddle our stone fireplace. The colors are simply magical, which works as our house in Carmel, CA is named Casa Magia.
The craftsmanship is beyond any stained glass I've ever seen. Even the sturdy wooden box the windows were shipped in showed careful workmanship. Joe sent trim pieces to secure the windows, all perfectly mitered, pre-drilled and painted. He ever sent the right screws! They're not cheap. But they were about 1/3 of what a local artist asked. (Carmel is part of a reality distortion field.) These windows are the crowning touch to our new home. We could not be more delighted. (The photos don't do the colors justice. They are much richer than they appear.)

I ran across Pompei Stained Glass Studio while looking for some FLW inspired stain glass and ended up commissioning a pair of Prairie House style panes for transom windows that are on either side of my fireplace. Working with Joe was a pleasure and the resulting craftsmanship is truly stunning. I expect to go back for more to complete the look in my family room.

We had a very pleasant experience planning two adjacent sliding door stained glass feature for our new house. We learned about Pompei because they had done several other stained glasses in the house we were moving in already. Joseph Pompei's past work in the house spoke for itself. He did an excellent job in designing and making our stained glass. We recommend them to others without ANY hesitation.
