What a mess. Worked with Steve at Truax for a new front door. Really wish we would have known they prefer commercial buyers and not residential. Really terrible communication. Poor explanations to questions. We ordered our door in early January 2021.it arrived in April of 2021. After install, we noticed it was the incorrect door (glass was not what we ordered). Contacted Truax and was told it would be 4-months for a replacement.
No word from Truax in the meantime. We waited 5-months and in September we had to reach out to Steve (again!) and asked what was happening with the replacement door. We were told that the manufacturer no longer makes the door we wanted. In the meantime, since April and the incorrect install, they had the audacity to send not one, not, two, but five (5!) invoices for the remainder of our balance, even after we contacted their bookkeeper about the problem.
In September we finally sent an email to the store manager, the sales manager, Steve, and let them know we would not be paying the balance on our account until the correct door was rectified. We were offered a $600 credit to our account if we paid for the incorrect door. One week AFTER the email was sent with our new credit offer, low and behold, our "correct door" had arrived.
Not willing to work with Steve or Truax again, we told them we would keep the incorrect door and take the $600 credit. Could not wait to be done with this relationship. We've happily told more than 6 friends and neighbors who were looking for new doors to just go to Home Depot - and will continue to tell everyone who asks about our experience. If it were possible to give less than one-star we would. Total shitshow with incompetent sales staff. Don't just take my word for it, read other Google reviews and see if you too can detect a pattern with Truax.

Ordered doors over the phone and talked specifically with the sales rep about the colors we wanted. When provided the quote, I did not realize the paint was not included and we received two unfinished doors. When I call them on it the salesman didn't have guts to admit his mistake on forgetting to include the paint in the quote and offered no apology or replacement. This is a dishonest company and they have pathetic customer service.

We unfortunately dealt with Jake who has abysmal customer service skills. Our order was incorrect due to his error, and he had the nerve to blame us for the error. I kept copious notes however, and we were refunded our deposit after taking the issue to the manager. It really feels like this company and the people there do not care about doing a good job for their customers.
We always felt like we were inconveniencing them whenever we went there trying to do business. I will no longer do business with Truax, and I certainly do not recommend this place.

SUPER disappointed in this place. We were referred by the manufacturer of our windows-- Ordered a screen for a window (awning window, white frame), was told it would be ready in a week. Received a call that it was ready to be picked up, drove 10 miles through traffic to pick it up, paid for it. and they can't find it. They decided to remake it while we waited, and MADE THE WRONG KIND OF SCREEN, wrong color, wrong frame.
When we pointed that out, that it wouldn't fit in the window and wouldn't work at all, counter person said, "Oh, we don't make that kind of screen." When my husband pointed out that he could have made the wrong screen himself and wouldn't have paid a premium for it, she shrugged and walked away. No offer of refund, no offer to make things right.
We literally left with a screen that was NOT what we ordered, and paid $40 for the privilege. This place doesn't care what customers think, as long as they get our money. I will be contacting the window manufacturer about this, so that they don't continue to refer customers to a place that can't make the right screens to fit their windows.
The only reason we ordered from Truax is that we have a unique style of window that requires a unique screen. If they were not able to make that particular style, they should have stated it when we ordered.

Horrible customer service. They were recommended by a friend for my new front entry door and storm door. I explained I knew nothing of this process so please help me understand all the basics. The saleswoman was useless. She offered nothing other than yes/no answers to my questions with no additional info to help a non-construction person make informed choices.
I ordered a model from the Codel catalog that was brown and assumed I was that getting that one. After waiting almost two months, a white door was installed. When I told her it was supposed to be brown she said they come unfinished and I should have read the fine print. What? When I am told to read the fine print it means you're pulling a fast one.
Not once did she mention the word "finishing". I told her even if I had read the fine print, I would not have understood what "finished" meant. Then she couldn't even tell me about how much the finishing would cost or, if I reordered the door, how much extra that would have been. A good salesperson is supposed to work to understand what the customer wants and do their best to make sure they get it.
No help and no accountability and the manager was no help whatsoever either. He said he "felt bad" while he defended the incompetentcy of his staff. The door was expensive and turns out the finishing company Truax recommended wanted $500 just to paint one door. That ridiculous. For the money I spent, I was expecting a completed door and now I'm feeling ripped off again.
The only reason they get any stars at all is the installer did an excellent job and they have the good sense to contract with a quality door company. If you know all the ins and outs of construction, you will probably be just fine. But definitely go somewhere else if you need some hand holding in this process. I wish I had.

Surprised to see some of the reviews here as I have had nothing but good experiences over the last 10 years. Steve, and recently Dan, have both helped me find the right doors and windows for projects around my home and office. I just ordered a door today from Dan that was custom, glass, color hinges, etc, and it was less than the some of the in-stock door costs at a big box store. I ordered about six thousand dollars worth of Milgard windows(18+ windows) last year with Steve and everything was as ordered and undamaged. I'll continue to use them.

After four days of unsuccessfully trying to order a custom slab from Home Depot we gave up and went with the recommendation of a local contractor to check out Truax. From our first interaction we received quality service from a knowledgeable staff member. In less than an hour they had everything worked out and even threw in some complimentary services that Home Depot was going to be charging $100+ for.
We haven't received the door yet, but I am confident that it's going to be great. I'm so happy to have found a local option for windows and doors so I don't have to worry about ever dealing with Home Depot in the future!

I have been doing business for over 30 years with Truax. I have recommended them for many years. I have spent upwards of $120,000 with them on window and door packages. Recently the customer service has tanked and they are far more into their own interest rather than the customer. I received a broken window and they took no responsibility. I scheduled a delivery for a second replacement window and they then filled it with someone else after we confirmed delivery day.
Then they proceeded to tell me they only had one slot available which we discussed previously wouldn't work for either one of us. Broken glass, loss of $480, delayed delivery and rescheduled twice. well, I guess this was not true when she left me this voicemail. (voicemail to text) "Hi, Keith. It's Tammy at Truax, Thursday is okay for delivery, but I need an address would you leave me one Thanks bye." I would recommend finding another source for your window and door needs. If they had been willing to make an effort then my review would have been much different.

I'm a first time customer and things could not have gone worse. I had a customer waiting for a door they promised they would have available in a week. I get a call the next day saying it will take two weeks (lack of follow up with the fabricator or a lie). Since a competitor could not provide the door til 4-5 weeks I decided to wait the extra week.
Two weeks pass and I do not receive a phone call on the promised date of arrival. The employee said it was probably in but he would look into it and call me back. He never did. The next morning the employee that I ordered the door from calls to say that the door was damaged and would prefer to provide me a refund. Now my customer and our AR will be delayed for 5 extra weeks thanks to this sadly run business since I will be ordering from my usual source. I recommend that anyone looking for doors or windows order from another door supplier.

So, I dropped by several times to look at doors. The guy showed me some doors around $1000+ each. He said that that seemed like a lot for a people door for a garage. I agreed. I did a bunch of research online, tried to go to some other places but either they never returned my call or weren't available when I stopped in. I found a better priced door online, called the guy at Truax and asked if they had that door. yes, so I ordered the door from him.
Why didn't he show me that door the first 2 times I went in? good question. And why don't they don't have it in the showroom. Anyway, he said he would call in a week when the door came in. A week and a half later, I called to get an update and he said it was there. ok

Truax Builder supplies is a first-class operation. They have been extremely helpful in my window projects. First they are so quick to get back to you. A truly rare thing with contractors it seems. Second they were so flexible with my schedule to come out and give me a quote (for those who work a M-F 9-5 that's important). Third they have extremely high-quality products but also a range of products. Fourth they have wonderful customer service and competitive pricing. You're in good hands with Truax.

Steve Helped me and quickly at that. I called to see about getting a sliding screen patio door re-screened. Called in on a wednesday, asked them if they could possibly do it by Friday as it was on my "honey do" list while my lady was away on spring break. I basically did everything to indicate to her that I didnt have the time to do it in order to surprise her by the time she got back.
Not only did they have it done by Friday, it was done next day. Do I expect them to always be able to do things so quickly? No. but I do appreciate them accomodating me with this. The cost was reasonable and standard for what is charged in the industry too. Thanks Truax!

We began wanting to replace old wood windows. After having a number of estimates from multiple companies we decided it was more than our budget could afford. At that point we decided to compromise and install good quality storm windows. That was easier said then done. There are very few companies who will do storm windows these days. We were very pleased to connect with Truax and discover they would make the storm windows to order and install them for us.
They were GREAT to work with. They came out and did all the measurements, gave us a solid estimate, removed the old storm windows, worked with us on the timeline so we had time to paint the windows before the new storm windows went up and then did a very neat and tidy install, including touching up any paint that got a little dinged when they hung the new storm windows.
The windows have been up about a year and half now. We have gone through both winter and summer and we LOVE them. Our heat and cooling bills have been reduced and our home feels much more comfortable and looks nice too. I would definitely hire them again and refer them to people wanting storm windows.

Very expensive. I recently purchased a couple exterior doors without price checking the local box stores. They came recommended by a friend so I didn't think twice, my mistake. Who knew the same doors I paid $800 were a third of that at the box stores. Oh! and that don't take returns, the sales staff must be on commission! Very dissapointed.

I just saw a TV ad for Truax Builder's Supply, which is now located at 109th & Division, but used to be located at 95th & Division many moons ago. I hadn't thought of Truax in years, really, but I have very fond memories of them (I know, odd, a child enjoying a builders supply store), but it was just one block down from my childhood home.
My dad shopped there often for things he needed for his business or for our house (we on occasion broke windows playing softball in the front yard). I remember he always got good service there. However, it was particularly beloved to us because they had a scrap pile out back with bits of wood and glass and other things that we hauled back to our yard to build things with (most memorably tree houses), and I remember that as a lot of fun and kept us occupied for hours (to my mother's relief). Anyway, so glad to see a childhood favorite going strong!

Unimpressed with the customer service. Received a window that was too big. Rough opening estimates were emailed to the contracter who placed the order. It was specified that they were "rough". I confirmed the order when it was read back to me by Truax. In the end it is likely my error in confirming the order that said "net" rather than "rough". I knew I had specified "rough" to the contracter and I would not have known what the associate meant by "net".
My issue is with the associate who was so nonchalant in telling us we were stuck with it. What angered me the most is when she said they would take it and scrap it for us. I know $227 isn't alot of money to some people, but it is for us. Why would I give a window back to a big company so they can throw it away for me? My guess is it would be resold anyway.
I gave them a 2nd star for the manager who had been sitting there the whole time. He piped up when I asked for a manager and said he heard everything, and they did nothing wrong. He offered a window at cost. Bottom line for me is the "it's not my problem" attitude we received, and the we can throw out your $227.00 for you offer.

Great place to find custom fitting doors, screens and windows for a vintage home. The woman that assisted me was very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommended if you can't find what you're looking for in the very generic selection at Lowe's or Home Depot. Custom cut door only took one week and the prices were good.
