I called Door Doctor to get a quote for them to fix a broken door in my house. They sent out a technician, quoted me a price, took a deposit of more than $800, and said they would send someone to fix the door within two weeks. They cashed my check on November 12, 2021. It is now December 13. They did repair the door, eventually, which is the only thing keeping them from getting a one-star rating.

The technicians are fine, but the office is abysmal. They simply did not answer their phones. To get through to anyone at all, I had to call every hour on the hour, for two days. Even when I could get through to the office, they could not guarantee where the technicians were or when they might arrive. The technicians did not call to say when they were arriving either.

I don't know what they expect people who can't get time off work, who can't work from home, or who have kids to pick up from school to do. I am glad that to have a door that finally closes and locks again, but I cannot recommend this company.

I needed replacement of my back door. I contacted door doctor, and agreed with the "estimate fee" that would be taken off the final price if they do the work, and once he went back to the office he would send me my estimate. Well it has been 10 days, I still don't have an estimate, but they sure cashed my check. At this point I don't need the estimate, as I was told that they could probably do the work before the left for the Christmas break, that would be discussed once I received the estimate.

Well today is their last day in the office, I don't see that happening! If they can't even provide an estimate in a timely manner- and follow through with getting me what I paid for, the estimate, I am concerned about the type of work they provide. I would NEVER use this company!

Responded very slow to online request. Began communication via email and setup an appointment to repair a patio door. They never called or showed up. When followed up via email, no response.

I wanted to give them a great review. I really did. I had hoped to have repeat business. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen. I hired the Door Doctor to repair a front door that had been hung incorrectly. As a side job, I had a door going into my garage that was also in bad shape. The repairman came out and was incredibly professional and knowledgeable.

He was able to repair the front door in 10 minutes, and gave me a quick assessment of what needed to happen for the garage entry door. He gets the extra star that saves this from being a 1-star review. But that's where the good things ended. This company has a policy of a $42.50 charge for doing an estimate. Then, according to my initial email response, the estimate charge would be applied to any repairs. Odd, but acceptable.

When the repairman gave me the estimate for the garage entry door (my secondary concern), the estimate for the door was over $2,000. It's not a fancy door. In fact, the only requirements are that it be steel and weather resistant. I was stunned. But, at the moment, I froze like a deer. He already has the measurements, is poised to get it done. ugh. what do I do. and I handed over my credit card for a mandatory 50% deposit. That's on me. Here's what didn't happen: * The estimate wasn't itemized.

How much was for the door? How much was for labor? Beats me. Doesn't say. * There was no choosing from a selection of doors. I was told that this was the door I needed. * There wasn't a clear verbal or written indication that my deposit was non-refundable. Yes, there's common sense that I forgot because I was on the spot. I own that.

And there was, at the very bottom, a line in 10 point type that says "No refunds or returns." Again, technically my fault. But good business practice would indicate to me that you outline important terms like that. Here's what did happen: * The appointment was on a Friday afternoon. I spoke with several people over the weekend who told me to RUN, that I needed a door that was under $200 from several sources, and that installation would run about $400-500. * I called Door Doctor within 24 business hours on Monday morning to cancel the order. * That Monday afternoon, my call was returned where I was told that the door had already been ordered and that it was being worked on (is it custom?

Who needs a custom garage entry door? That's not specified anywhere.). And OF COURSE, my deposit wasn't refundable, but they would "see what they could do." * The invoice was really confusing. Item No.1 on the list is a charge for "estimate - $42.50." Turns out, it wasn't ever added into the final price, but then why put it on there?

A customer-facing invoice should show either (a) actual charges, (b) a charge and a credit for an item that was incurred but reversed, or (c) a strikethrough. Nothing has happened in the interim. So, I'm out $1,000, I have no door replacement. The only thing I can gain is to not pay the remaining 50 percent, save that money and get a door from any other source.

I won't be coming back, and I won't be advising friends to come here either. Having been in my new home almost a month, I now am developing an entire catalog of trustworthy contractors and vendors who I am happy to do straightforward business with.

No one ever showed up after 2 separate appointments. They didn't call or anything, poor customer service. It was just a door repair. I took off work for both appoint, nets. Will not use to save my life.

I had a similar experience to another reviewer. Contacted the Door Doctor because their site advertises that they can repair wood rot and other damages in doors. Called and confirmed that they do repairs. Came out, told me the door could not be repaired, and provided a ridiculous quote to replace the door for $6,000+. I had to pay a $45 visit fee, just for them to give me this sales pitch and quote. Do not go with this company.

I needed a jamb replaced on a door. They won't quote you an estimate on the phone. Instead they charge 42.50 to come out, which can be applied to your bill. They come out and give an estimate of 1369! This job should be on the 400 range. Save your money and time. Home Depot installs doors for 300. My advice is call bryon at the door guys. Good guy, very reasonable pricing. Feel like I wasted my time and money on the door dr scam!

Had to pay $50 for a ridiculous quote of around $5000 worth of work that I ended up DYI for not even $200. To replace a door threshold that cost $20 for the threshold was quoted at $500 for the job. The person that evaluated and quoted the job insisted I needed a new door worth up to $2000, when all the door needed was a door bottom that was only $20.

I believe this "company" makes money off of the estimation fee. To top it off, the quote was hand written, scanned, and emailed to me 3 days after the quote, as if it's not 2014 and computers aren't available for any professionalism.
