This is the second time I used A1A. My wall button for the automatic opener stopped working. I called, was able to get an appointment within 2 days, Ethan showed up on time and fixed the problem quickly. I can highly recommend this company.

I called A1A Overhead Door to get a quote over the phone, and I spoke with a very friendly lady who I believe is the owner's wife. She gave me a quote over the phone and the prices sounded great, so I booked an appointment to have a technician come out and confirm that I would need all of the items that I quoted. The technician arrived on time and was friendly, and I showed them the areas that I believed needed work, but mentioned that I'm not familiar with garages and was relying on their expertise.

After the technician heard what I wanted to have inspected to ensure parts / service was actually needed, they proceeded to inspect the items, gave me a quote, and bundled items to save me money. However, the quote the technician provided was approximately $400 higher than what I had received over the phone, and I trusted more what I was told over the phone because of how knowledgeable and detailed the lady I spoke with was.

When I told the technician my concern about the price being drastically different, they mentioned they didn't like when the office quotes over the phone because the office doesn't know the extent of the work needed. I asked the technician what all was needing to be replaced, and they listed a handful of parts that I didn't have quoted over the phone, which I thought explained the price discrepancy.

But I still wanted to find out why the price was so much higher, so I had the technician price out the individual pieces that they said needed to be replaced. I was surprised to hear some of the items needing to be replaced, three of which were the wire cables, pulleys, and spring(s) that are all above the garage door. I decided to check on these items, but saw no fray or damage.

I mentioned this to the technician and asked if they saw any fray or damage on any of these items, and after another inspection, they said they did not see damage either. The technician ultimately said the wire cables, pulleys, and springs that were quoted as needing to be replaced, did not need to be replaced. So the quote went down closer to what I was told over the phone, however I was quoted having all my rollers and track replaced, so my in-person quote was closer in price, just with significantly less items than what I had been quoted over the phone.

I decided to not get the work done from A1A Overhead Door due to my experience of receiving a much higher quote in-person than what I received over the phone, as well as feeling like I was being taken advantage of after mentioning I was relying on the technician to tell me what needed to be replaced. I wouldn't recommend using this company, especially if you do not have at least some mechanical aptitude to determine if the technician is quoting you unnecessary parts.

Response to Owner: Thank you for responding, sir. I do want to clarify that over the phone I was quoted a new garage door opener at $359, a new set of rollers at $150, new tracks at $90 per track ($180 total), a new torsion tube at $90, and the service fee at $49.95; to which I confirmed the prices and parts at the end of the call. Again, I was quoting every item that could be replaced so that the quote would be lower if I did not need some of the items.

The total quote over the phone was $828.95, and the technician initially quoted me at $1,200 due to other parts that they stated I needed. The only reason the quote that was filed was reduced to $781.95 was due to the fact that I questioned the parts the technician said needed to be replaced, to which the technician ultimately agreed that several parts did not need to be replaced.

So my initial in-person quote was $400 higher than what I received over the phone, which is why I began to question the items that I was told should be replaced. The technician quoting unnecessary parts is something that you did not address in your response. People are trusting your organization to be honest with the level of service needed, and if you are willing to ignore that aspect, I would highly recommend that people avoid using A1A Overhead Doors.

The good: Communication with their office was professional and courteous. Reservations were easy and they followed-up with me. Their installation staff was friendly and got the job done quickly. No complaints with their people at all.they did a great job. The bad: The price was expensive for the worked performed. There was a high markup on the materials, they charged for labor, then a service call fee, another "Off track door" fee, a shop fee and then a credit card fee. All in all probably about 25% higher than should have been. I would use AIA again in the future.

Unfortunately I didn't catch his name, but the tech that was here today to replace the garage door motor was fantastic. He was friendly and punctual, replaced the entire unit, and answered any questions I had about the new setup. Thanks again!

This company is a SCAM and the customer service is terrible! I called to get an appointment for an estimate on replacing my broken garage door roller. I was told there would be a service charge of 49.95 when they come out. When Josh arrived he gave me an estimate of $375 and another company gave me an estimate of $150 and I asked Josh why was A1A so much more expensive and he stated ma'am I can't answer that I don't make the prices. Josh was very unfriendly.

I told him I will go with someone else and he said that's fine but that'll be $49.95 and I paid the $49.95. I had another company to install my rollers and called to have them to come out to make an adjustment on the door and unknowingly I made the mistake of calling A1A and Josh came out but did not even look at my garage and that's when I realized they were the wrong company and of course Josh told me sense I made a mistake in calling them it would be $50 for him coming out even though he did nothing.

I apologized for making the mistake but it wasn't acceptable so I told him I am not paying him another $50. I called the office and the young lady that answered the phone told me Josh called before he came to my house so it would be $50 and in the midst of me trying to explain to her I have a memory problem she immediately said thank you and good by and hung the phone up. A week later my husband called the office to talk to a manager and the same young lady hung up in his face. So I wouldn't recommend this company to ANYONE.

Ask for Garage evaluation given known electrical power shortage that I couldn't fix. They gave me timeframe to come and check the garage which is reasonable but technician was 1 hr late to the timeframe and I missed valuable time from work waiting on the person which during this time of financial crisis is really important. After being one hour late, he didn't greed just told me price and if I was ok with it(which was different from what I got over the phone).

Person kept pressing garage switch not realizing I had unplugged cable wires cause I tested electrical system in the morning. He plugged machine to outlet to check power and told me I needed electrician but then realized it was just problem with the braker that automically turn off the electrical system in the garage in case or possible power outage.

For just doing that simple electrical check I was charge $140. Never ever calling this people again. Stay away unless you are in crisis which despite that they will likely show up late.

BEWARE! When I called company this morning because my garage door would not close, I was told it would be $50.00 just to come out, and any parts and repairs would be an additional charge. That sounded reasonable. I questioned the final price when I was told that the additional charge would be $90.00 for the work they did (all he did was turn a screw) because service person now stated that $90.00, in addition to the 50.00 just to show up, is ACTUALLY the minimum charge.

No one ever said that. Service person threatened me that a lien would be placed on my house if I didn't pay him before he left, and my request for an invoice or bill, before I paid, or even a receipt, was denied. So I paid $140.00 for someone to turn a screw, and then gloat over the fact that they would put a lien on my house if I refused to pay for repair. I will never call this company again.

The garage wouldn't close. When I check why the chain wasn't moving, I discovered that the sprocket on the drive shaft of the motor has sheered off, so the chain wasn't working. The serviceman had a replacement part in his truck. The response to my request for service was almost immediate. The knowledgeable repairman was extremely efficient and completed the job in 30 minutes as he stated before started. I couldn't have been more pleased.
