I called in the AM and explained my issues with my garage door. My door had a "mind of it's own" as it would start/stop after pressing the button, it would close 12 inches and then retract open, etc. I didn't know if I needed new rails, rollers, electrical, etc. They scheduled me the same day between 1-3, they came about 330, however I did receive a call about an hour earlier that they were running a little late, however 5 stars for the customer service.
So Michael and his assistant Dylan came and analyzed the situation, gave me an immediate estimate on parts, etc., adjusted everything and I am so happy to recommend Hunter Door. Honesty, integrity, and customer service were 5 stars. All I can say is "thank you ".

I got 3 recommendations from people to use Hunter Door Service, so I decided to have them quote on replacing my broken garage door. I called their sales guy and set up an appointment, but toward the end of our window, he still had not shown up or called. So, I called and left him a message and then called the office and asked someone to give me a quote over the phone, because I wasn't going to continue to wait for him.
In some back and forth messages, it turns out he claimed I was on someone else's schedule, even though I made the appointment directly with him. Then he offered to drive out to my house, since he was in the area, as if he was doing me a favor, and never apologized for his mistake. For me, that was the deal breaker. I can forgive someone forgetting an appointment.
It happens. But if you can't own your mistake with a customer and apologize for it, then I can't give you my business, because I can't expect you to stand by any potential mistakes made on my garage door. That undermined the good things my friends had to say. That being said, their price was reasonable and the 3 people who recommended them had nothing but good things to say about their work.
I just need better customer service than I was given from their salesman for me to move forward with a company. My garage door is still broken and it will stay that way until I find someone who treats me with respect.

My car was in garage incarceration this morning since the torsion coil had broken which put me into a panic. I called many different garage door companies and despite the fact that Hunter was busy, they squeezed me in between jobs for same day service. The technician was professional and had the right coil with him and was able to fix it within an hour. Pricing was reasonable and in line with what I expected to pay.
I was able to get a quote over the phone. Another company gave me an estimated quote of almost double the price. I'm so glad I ended up using Hunter and plan on using them in the future hopefully not for any emergencies.

We recently had a new front door installed by Hunter Door. If this review was only about the door it would be 5 stars. The door is great, and looks wonderful on our house. The installer, Bob, worked his tail off for 4 hours, by himself, to make sure everything was correct and right. Bob took off and re-installed an existing storm door (I think it works even better now), and he even replaced the interior molding with newer composite molding.
It looks great! However, what makes this experience average is the lack of communication by Hunter Door to it's customers. When we originally ordered our door in October, one of the selling points was it would only take 4-6 weeks to have it ordered and installed. We were excited to think we would have it for the holiday season. As six weeks came it was radio silence and we heard nothing.
I had to reach to our sales rep, Max and was told everything was backordered and we were looking at mid-December. As mid-December rolled around, I AGAIN heard nothing, and AGAIN had to reach out to Max on my own with him saying the door still wasn't in and they would update me when it shipped. The same day a contractor for Hunter called me and scheduled us for a January install (12 weeks after our order) in hopes the door would be in. Max always gave the standard, COVID supply chain backup excuse (a sticker on the door says it was manufactured on November 2, 2020 about 3 weeks after our order).
In my opinion COVID started in March and we ordered the door in October, you should have a realistic view of your supply chain/install estimates seven months later. I even understand having to exceed estimated time frames, but it would be nice if around the six week mark we received a call saying "we apologize but your door still isn't in.we'll keep you updated".
Two days before our install I still heard nothing from Max/Hunter Door and AGAIN I had to reach out to check on our status as they had told us when we ordered the cold weather may delay install (and the forecast on install day was looking iffy). 12 weeks later the door was finally in and ready to be installed! We do enjoy the look of the door. It's hard not to when the prior door was 60ish years old.
Hunter wasn't the cheapest, but also wasn't the most expensive. They do take 50% up front and the other 50% the day of install. For all the delays in getting the door installed, they weren't delayed in collecting final payment, as Max showed up just as the installer was pulling out of our driveway. If you're looking for a quality door and good workmanship at a decent price and have time to wait then Hunter Door is worth getting an estimate.
If customer service or short time period is high on your priority list, I'd look elsewhere. I'd caution whatever time estimate they give you to take it with a grain of salt, and at least double it for a realistic time frame.

Reached out to Hunter Door to replace my garage door opener. Our installer Frank was very prompt and I appreciated how he explained the process to me. I also appreciated that he took the necessary precautions and wore a mask. Hunter Door were the ones to install our garage doors 10 years ago and I'm happy to have reached out to them again! Thank you!

The sales representative, Max, never showed up for the initial consultation. I called him about half an hour after our scheduled appointment, and he had clearly forgotten that we had an appointment. Max came later that afternoon, and I chalked it up to a misunderstanding. A couple of weeks later, when my husband and I were ready to order the door, we had an appointment with Max at our house between 4:00 and 4:30.
We never heard from him until he showed up at about 5:10 with nothing but a glib comment about it being Friday. My husband and I, who both work and both rearranged our schedules to meet with him, were apparently supposed to think that it's reasonable to keep a customer waiting without a word for forty minutes because it's Friday. I told Max to get out and called Hunter the following week to see if they had another sales rep. (We wanted to patronize them because they are a local company but didn't want to deal with Max.) The person who answered said that one of the owners could take orders and said that they would get back to us. We never heard from them. Maybe Hunter does good work, but it's surprising that they ever get that far, considering how they treat customers.

Hunter Door Service in Maple Shade is the way to go if you are looking for a garage door, front door, etc. Our experience with this family owned business has been excellent. We were taken back by the patience, respect and appreciation rec'd from the owner. This business is a gem. Lowe's and Home Depot's service, staff & prices do not come close to the excellence of this wonderful family owned business.
Of all my reviews, this is my favorite to post b/c the company's service reminds me of my late father & the appreciation he had for his clients. This company deserves 10 stars! I highly recommend to everyone.

Had double garage doors installed by Hunter Doors. Dave was great installing doors, on time, professional, clean installation. Best service and product I have had from a home improvement company ever. Max the sales guy originally measured doors wrong and caused a dely. Max was hard to schedule an initial estimate call but once the install started, it was terrific.

Professional installation accomplished in a few hours left me with two new openers that performed flawlessly. Liftmaster openers are quiet, efficient and if you get the Elite Series 8550 model it is easily controlled by your phone by an app. Has a battery backup too which eliminates any worry about being able to open your garage door in a power outage. Received 4 remotes, each programmed for both openers too.
The door control unit allows opening/closing and has a clock, temperature, light settings and maintenance alert system. Absolutely the most quiet, sophisticated opener on the market today. Installation was perfect in every way.thank you.

You know that scene where one of the characters really needs to get away but the car won't start?! I was that unfortunate sad sack yesterday when my fancy garage door refused to close right before the snow squall was headed our way. Cue scene from Wizard of Oz. Naturally, I googled the error code on the opener and found a page that discussed counting flashes of blinking lights.
Depending on how many blinks, I could diagnose the problem. ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME? What am I, Anne Sullivan? Thanks, "Liftmaster." After rifling through several "junk drawers" - and asking myself why do we have more than one? - I found the Hunter Door paperwork and called for help. Mike was incredibly understanding and didn't make me feel like a total idiot when I couldn't describe what was wrong without using the word "thingy." Then, Mike called for a serviceman who arrived in about an hour (amazing).
The serviceman was AWESOME. He ended up not only fixing the issue (a malfunctioning sensor thingy, of course!), he sprayed all of the moving parts with silicone, and he made an adjustment to end a slight squeaking noise that he heard and didn't like. He also showed me a few tricks to get the door down if I'm ever in the situation again to override the system. Now I'm a garage door Jedi, and we got the door down just in time before the snow squall hit! Thank you, Hunter!

Outstanding service! One of our springs broke on a Saturday morning. I called the sticker on my door from the previous homeowner and the repair appointment was made for Monday afternoon. Eric, the repair tech, could not have been more professional. Very nice guy who clearly knows his stuff! With two new springs, four new rollers and a tightening of the cables, the door is has never been more quiet.
All for just under $200. Well worth it. I recommend getting your door serviced, just as preventive maintenance. Why wait something to break and make you late for something?! I was lucky my spring broke on a weekend. There are other companies that do garage door repair, but I will always use Hunter.

Extremely fair priced and very quick response for an appointment. I was experiencing an issue with all of my garage doors. After a month of frustration I reached out to Hunter doors. The tech that was dispatched was Dominic. He was so incredibly knowledgeable and he worked quickly to resolve my issue. Since they work on a 30 minute interval pricing I was happy that he worked at a constant.productive pace.
Add his very friendly and very accommodating manner and it was a WIN for us. Would highly recommend this company! It is obvious by their hiring practicing that they strive to be the best.

My torsion spring broke on my double garage door. Called a couple places about 8-am and Hunter Door was the company who could get me an appt by 12 noon the same day. I had two springs on the same door and only one was broken. I was told its recommend to replace both for one installation price. I planned to do this anyway. They came out on time. the technicians name was Eric.
He was very helpful and even cleaned my garage door that had grease on it that my contractor left when he tried unsuccessfully to fix garage door for me. The price was reasonable, the person who answered the phone was detailed, the tech was prompt and finished the job in under an hour. The garage door not only worked but was very smooth and quiet. Would use again and highly recommend.

Seriously? I went through Home Depot as I purchased a garage door opener and wanted them to install it. I find out they cannot install it due to BS excuses! The guy was afraid of installing it because my garage door uses a single torsion spring. Seriously?! Secondly, even though it was a 8' door they couldn't install a 7' opener. It does not matter for them, it will still work.
They could easily have used an extension kit if I really wanted to open the 8'. Third, they made a big deal about not having an outlet near the opener. I understand it needs to meet code not using an extension cord. However, there's no way everyone has am outlet prior. Your telling me they can't run a wire to add an outlet?

I have been using Hunter Doors since the early 80's. I have never had a problem with their work. They are always on time, and in an emergency within 24HRS. Today I called them about 11AM and the repair work was completed by 3pm. The first experience they even suggest how to save money on my new door instal. Their prices are reasonable and there work has always been good. They even clean up after their work. Great job today

Max from Hunter came out and gave us a quote and time frame of 4-5 weeks. We ordered because time was of the essence as we communicated during his quote. Our doors were finally installed 11 weeks after ordering. He underestimated the time until installation by over 100%. When the doors were installed, two of the three door handles were installed upside down. Initially, Max tried to convince me that they had to be installed that way and have me accept the improper installation.
After verifying what I already knew via the internet and a phone call to the hardware manufacturer (Baldwin), Max agreed to send someone to correct the improper handle installation. I didn't hear anything for two weeks and called Max - he explained that it was very busy being the holiday season and proceeded to give me the runaround and act like he would be doing me a favor to install the handles the right way. (Hardware installation was included in the quote and price I paid.) I wound up paying a locksmith to install them properly myself.
One phone call and the problem was fixed in under an hour for only $80. Avoid these guys - their word is no good. I will never use them again and will recommend strongly against using them to all of my friends and family. If you don't care about when your doors will be installed or if the hardware is facing the right way, Hunter Door is the company for you.

I took estimates to repair my door from various companies. All of them told me I had to pay a ridiculous amount of money to get a new door. Hunter came by to review the damage and advised it was a simple fix. They reviewed everything with me in detail advised of the cost and parts. The repair tech came by and was professional and courteous. Honest and reliable businesses are hard to come by. I highly recommend using Hunter Door!

I asked them to come out to see why my door was stuttering as it was going up and down. They scheduled it a couple days out and arrived in the middle of the two hour window. The guy went right to work but didn't introduce himself or say "hello." I don't even know his name since it's not on the paperwork. His first words were, "Did they tell you about the $95 service fee?" I said, "No" since all that we discussed on the phone was that they would come check it out. Honestly, if I had known about it I would have checked other options.
He looked over the hardware and took out some spray lube and took 5 minutes to spray the wheels, bearings, and joints. He tested it a few times and said he'd write up the bill. He charged me $95 for the visit and $7 for the can of lube. This was way too much in my opinion. Pros: The door works better now. I got to keep a can of spray lube. Cons: The $95 fee was NOT disclosed until he arrived.
I paid it because I wasn't going to argue their fees and the door now works. I was not satisfied with his charging a new customer $109 for literally 8 minutes of his time and a can of generic spray lube. Was he justified to do it? Yes. Was it the right way to handle the situation? No. I want a company that will do right by the customer and if he had said something along the lines of, "Hey, it's your first time and we'd love your business in the future so I'm only going to charge you for the lube and $30 for my 8 minutes of labor" then I would have been impressed and written a glowing review. Instead, I'm underwhelmed with the work and unimpressed by the cost.
My suggestion, be proactive about fees since you can't rely on them to disclose them over the phone and know what you're getting into with potentially minor service calls.

The cable for my garage door recently snapped. I looked into fixing the issue myself, but after reviewing the how to, I decided I better get professional to do this (with my luck the spring would snap back at me). I was able to get an appt in a couple of days (it wasn't a emergency, so I was ok with waiting). The technician came and he was great!
Very nice, told me what needed to be done and hen just got it done. It was a really great experience knowing that a true professional was handling my problem. This is my second time using Hunter Doors (they installed my garage door opener years ago) and they will be the first and only call I make if I have any other door needs.
