The Wooden Screen Door Company was established in 1994 by John Otterbein. John had been working for a local wood shop that occasionally made screen doors. John knew he could do a better job. He was right! He purchased our building that year and set up shop. The building was expanded in the early 2000's to include a showroom and a much larger shop floor.
John also had the foresight to purchase "woodenscreendoor.com" in the early aughts, which is where you are reading this now! After 27 years, and thousands of screen doors, John retired in the fall of 2021.

Services
Please provide us with the opening dimensions for where your door is going to hang (see picture below). If you already have a door and you are replacing it, you can send us the dimensions of that door, but please indicate that you are sending us the "actual door dimensions." To ensure proper measurements for installation, follow the picture to determine height and width of your opening. Measure the inside edge of the casing area where you will hang your new door (A, B, and C). Use the narrowest measurement for the width.
Full Mortise Latch Sets: These latches are for doors with regular or heavy use. To mortise, we drill and chisel out a pocket in the wood that holds the latch. If the door will see regular use, you definitely want the full-mortise latch set instead of the rim-mount (which is only held to the door by four screws).
