These guys are the best, from the yard to the front office. Lumber selection is second to none. Been doing business there for 40 years and will continue to do so.

Alex and his crew always take great care of us. They are able to offer great advice, can usually make rough cuts for us and are always pleasant to work with.

This place is definitely a huge cut above the bigger corporate places because the staff is incredibly knowledgable. I was brought here by my contractor Mark, and noticed that all of the employees are much more skilled at answering any questions or providing advice for projects. I am impressed!

I was having trouble finding a certain type of siding for a small repair. La Mesa Lumber was recommended to me by a friend. From the moment I entered their facility they made me feel like I was the only customer in the store, Far from it, it was packed and I can see why. A nice fellow named Cory assisted me and he called several suppliers to get me the exact piece I needed.

It was a small project and required just one board but he took the time to make sure I got the exact type I needed. The workers in the yard were extremely helpful and friendly as well. Looking around I saw other customers getting the same type of attention. Such a change in atmosphere and indifference from the big box stores. I can wholeheartedly recommend La Mesa Lumber to anyone wishing quality and service. From now on I will drive the extra few minutes to purchase all my lumber needs from La Mesa Lumber.

I brought an order into La Mesa Lumber for a custom cut 2 x 4; I wanted a cross cut and also needed it ripped diagonally. The miller that did the work was a real professional. I watched as he took my measurements, cut it to length, and then lined it up for the rip cut. The end product came out perfect. The next day, I called them to put in a good word for him and was told that he was actually born in a home on their property! I think that may qualify him as a "plank owner". At any rate, I was very impressed with his skills and his determination to put out excellent work.

We had 2 projects and requested quotes from ALL lumber providers big and small. We even supplied them the plans. Needless to say the response was dismal EXCEPT for La Mesa Lumber. The professional and experienced team were wonderful. The cost maybe a tad more BUT you receive a quality lumber and an experienced team who are committed to you being successful.

STAFF is amazingly helpful. Top notch. Nothing else describes it. From the people in the office to the people in the yard, they are kind and knowledgeable. I can also tell by the camaraderie, that the workplace culture here is special. Thanks for all your help!

Great lumberyard with outstanding service - staff really know their stuff. All kinds/sizes of wood, and a big selection of composite decking. Good selection of hardware and tools too.

The store is great, but the yard guys are lazy and if you have a big order to load, they hide or take one look at your ticket and tell you I will get someone to help and never do and never come back, our driver spends all his time loading his own flatbed. Dixieline is better we never have a problem getting help to load our truck.

Remembering now how nice a little lumber & hardware store can be compared to the huge Home Depot that thousands of employees. Nice to be helped right away & also surprised to find out that price was a great deal lower than HD. I saved $60 shopping with the little guys & taken care with the same person I spoke to on the phone. It was fast, friendly, helpful & affordable experience. Than you Tyler and La Mesa Lumber & Hardware. I will be back.

New to the area. Stopped in to get some things to put a dryer vent in for an RV. Had the vent, needed to adjust the hole and grt some things. Gentlemen helped me find the bit, bolts and nuts, and the silicone sealant to get me all squared away. Very friendly and very helpful. Will be doing more business here during our stay.

Great customer service EVERY TIME I've been there. Friendly staff, accommodating delivery times (FYI no weekends), and better pricing than Home Depot on what I needed.

We ended up getting excellent customer service from the decking person, Matt, and for that I am very thankful. Price is higher that big box stores unfortunately to a point of not using them. They need to update their website as well.

Overall great place for that hard to find size and type of wood. We are project builders and my newest vision called for 1x12 at 10 feet redwood. After looking at multiple stores I got the recommendation to check out La Mesa lumber. I called them up, they told me they had my wood and the price over the phone. Drove down and they told me what bay to drive over to.

The kind worker (didn't get his name) showed me the ones they had. He helped me pick a great piece and even cut and loaded in my truck for me. Check out was super easy, and I was on my way. In and out in 10 minutes and everyone was super nice. Normally when I go to lumber stores and need one or two pieces I get overlooked and given weird prices based on some crazy formula based on the woods size. Not here, their pricing was clear and I didn't feel judged for not buying a full truck load of wood. Will be going back for my next crazy project!

I don't know how many times I have driven past this lumberyard with just a cursory glance. I never even really gave it much thought. But when I was searching online for some specialty lumber they were listed as having it in stock. I called, and got exemplary service over the phone. Then I paid a visit. I interacted with a half dozen different people and all were cheerful, friendly, and helpful.

Long story short, I placed an order for delivery and got just as good of service from the order desk and the delivery personnel. Quality lumber and quality service. Needless to say, my nest trip won't be to drive BY La Mesa Lumber, it will be to drive TO La Mesa Lumber.

Great customer service, and very knowledgeable staff. especially Randy. he makes me feel like part of the La Mesa lumber family. I wouldn't shop anywhere else for my construction projects.

We ended up here when we were building our planter boxes after neither Home Depot or Dixieline had the wood we needed and could not have been happier with our experience. Manny was most helpful in the yard. He personally selected the best quality boards out of the stack for us and being a gardener himself, gave us some great tips. The superior customer service continued inside with the assistance of Albert. I had no idea La Mesa Lumber even existed before and will now always make this my first stop when I need home project supplies.

They don't stand behind their products. Rude, with disturbing attitude of just not caring about their customers. I'd prefer to go to a place where I am valued as a customer.

After shopping multiple places for windows and a new large 10-foot sliding glass door, we went with La Mesa Lumber. Not only were their prices competitive but the customer service was outstanding. I worked with Matt and he was very attentive and provided an estimate, a confirmation when payment was made and also shipping information. The windows and door are now installed and they are a beautiful addition to our home, they are really stunning. I appreciated their attention to detail and I will be working with them again.

Give no info up front purchased some lumber for my patio cover and had it delivered. The plans changed and had some left over boards and they would not return. Not ideal for DIY homeowners because they aren't flexible at all. It's obvious they only want business from contractors which is disappointing.

Great place if you wanna stay out of Home Depot. They have it all. Give em a try. You really can't go wrong with the local hardware store

The lumber I got was overall lower quality than expected - I ordered 20% more than needed and it still was not enough after discounting the bad cedar (meant for ceiling). When asking them to change some of it, they refused it invoking the 14 days policy. They refused even to throw in a deal on delivery. I understand they were covered by policies, but after all it was their lumber that brought me into this. I would not recommend them.

The people who work here are great. Super friendly and helpful, they also go out of the way trying to help you save money. Inside the hardware store they are equally nice and help you pinch pennies.

Now that I've seen La Mesa Lumber and Hardware, I have no idea why anyone would shop at the Big Box stores. La Mesa Lumber has the best quality, best variety, fantastic service, and that old-fashioned hardware store feel you just don't find anymore. They custom cut my lumber for me, helped load it, and were pleasant through the entire encounter. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Rude staff with pretentious manors. Would not recommend. Had a particularly bad experience with the guy behind the counter specifically with the receding hairline and glasses. Avoid.

Had such a fabulous experience here, needed some slats for my couch and Wes helped me out in a second cut them to size I needed! When I went to pay Rick helped me out and showed me what screwed I needed Certainly will keep coming back to support my local lumber store!

I could have conducted my business with Dixieline (They have a Mil/LE discount). However LML has an unwavering commitment to customer service. I applaud the gentlemen on the front desk to the yard-guys for helping me out with my lumber needs and the attention you just do not receive at the big box stores.

Prices are reasonable, the service is exceptional and the selection is extensive. I've been remodeling my 1913 craftsman home mostly with the help of the big box stores - La Mesa Lumber has the things that give you that little extra credibility. Most recently I visited to get redwood siding; they were cheaper than a close-by lumberyard by almost 25%.
