North Bay Plywood

I ordered a custom door from North Bay Plywood. They gave me a door that is not only poor quality, but different dimensions from what I asked for in writing. Absolutely avoid.

One of my kitchen drawers has been broken for about three years. I decided to update and paint my kitchen so I took the broken drawer into North Bay Plywood for repair. I worked with Tim and within 24 hours I had a new drawer! After a minor adjustment, the drawer works like a charm! Great work and customer service.

They are very helpful, hve beautiful products from which to choose and their customer service has been great.

I am a custom cabinet maker and finish carpenter and I have purchased sheet goods, moldings and hardwoods from NBP for years and I will say that I don't know what I would do if they ever decided to close. They have the best selection of plywood and other sheet goods at very fair prices. They also sell high quality door hardware and doors. They can also make custom doors and cabinets.

I saw the one-star and two star reviews and I will say that when you go into NBP you should be prepared for a short wait at the counter as the employees that you see from the counter are sometimes busy helping phone-in clients and ordering inventory etc. It also helps if you have a good idea of what you are looking for. Be patient, the employees are knowledgeable and personable if you are able to be pleasant to them. This is truly an old school business, every professional that I know loves the place.

All I can say about this company is buyer beware! Customer service is a 4 letter word for Tom, jr.- the owner.

Saw the 1 star reviews and had to write a review, I have never received anything but great service here. They take the time to help, the owner even helped me order a special bronze bell that matched our hardware for an anniversary present.

The initial ordering was a little rough, I wasn't entirely convinced I would be getting what I was wanting. No effort to show pics in a catalog or online, all went by word of mouth, I was just hoping I was doing an ok job of explaining. But pick up and cutting was AWESOME. Excellent help from lady in the front office, their door was open early! Very kind man unloaded my old door, cut my new door right away. Everyone, I mean EVERYONE I walked past said Good Morning with a smile.

I would not hesitate to use this place again for any building/finishing needs. Just be prepared your initial visit may not be as customer friendly as you may be used to, but the results and finished product and interaction with people on the milling floor may be excellent!

If you are a consumer and would actually like some help DO NOT GO TO THIS COMPANY. We went with basic needs but no knowledge, they handed us a catalogue and told us to look at a website. Never, not once, did they give us help in picking a correct door for our needs. Even though we gave them the number of our contractor and even got him on the phone when we were in their office, they didn't give him any info either. it took over two weeks for the contractor to get in correct information for the measurements.

Because they couldn't be bothered to help us, I now have a door that cost over $5K (not including installation) for a door that is incorrect for the application and all because they COULD NOT BE BOTHERED to help when they were asked for help. It has already required extra work on my contractor's part to give it some semblance of weatherproofing and in order to make it last beyond 5 years will require spending more money to shield the door. i am beyond angry at the way these folks have treated both me and my contractor.

I hate this place. Over the years we have been there many times, usually left not happy. I was there about a month ago for an issue with my $10,000 door which I purchased from them years ago. The guy sitting in the desk just to the left of the office door reluctantly got up after he let us wait too long, he came out, was not friendly, was not welcoming and just wanted to know what we wanted.

We attempted to tell him, and we didn't know the correct terminology and he talked to us like we were stupid using words that you would understand if you worked in their industry byt not if you were joe blow! We left feeling like idiots and pissed off. Just recently i called them on the phone to get some info on some molding. A woman answered and was not welcoming at all, she said I'll get you sales.

A man came on, pretty much sure it was the same rude man I spoke to when I dropped by and said what do you want? WOW! Can you get any ruder, I felt like I was bothering you, thought I was the customer and I was important like most other businesses in Napa treat me. He proceeded to make me feel like an idiot again and I hung up. I hate this place! I am going elsewhere for my needs, somewhere that treats me nicely but most businesses in Napa do. I don't need to waste my time with these people anymore. Disgusting!

These guys took a simple job of setting up an interior hollow-core door for a replacement install. They screwed up everything they possibly could have on such a simple job. All they do is doors - how can they fail at even that?

Nice selection of hardwoods, Plywood and moulding. Prices and quality are good. Much better than home centers.

Everything is well organized and easy to find. If you have trouble finding something the staff are very friendly in helping you out in every way possible. Easy pick up and load up by having multiple entry's to the building. The staff in the office are very patient and willing to explain everything.

Our first order with them did not go well and will not go back. Ordered paneling that didn't work out and they wouldn't let us return it. Was never informed that our item was a special order and non returnable.

Our first time going into North Bay did not go well. Ordered something that didn't work out and tried to return it. Sales staff was not helpful and refused to let us return the item. We're now out a lot of money and would never shop there again.

I wanted to find a place to give this amazing business a review so here we are. I am moving from my current rental, had to replace a damaged custom sized furnace door or repair the hole in it. I took the door over to north bay plywood and was told no problem we can make you a new one, finished the very next day, primed and ready to go. Craftsmanship is amazing, beveled edges just like the original made back in 1975. I would highly recommend them if you need anything wood!

Kathy S has been a pleasure to work with and is very accommodating in providing multiple quotes for our windows and doors. North Bay is prompt and provides no nonsense service. Pricing is reasonable and they have a great selection.

My one experience here was excellent. I needed a section of 5.5 baseboard to be milled to match my obsolete existing baseboards (about 25 years old). After someone in the office suggested this was impossible, John Claudino took a look. He seems to be one of those people who look at problems as interesting challenges, and he was able to provide me a custom milled piece that looks identical to my originals. They did it fast, and the finished product was beautifully milled. The company probably did not make much money on this transaction, but they made me a believer.

This company is SO easy to work with. We had a disasterous experience with a family run door/window/lumber store in Contra Costa County resulting in doors ordered in the wrong dimension and no ownership from the salesperson [I cannot reveal the store's name because a poor Yelp review had them sick their attorney on me]. We stopped by Napa Plywood and issues that were previously problems (such as having doors cut down at the factory) disappeared. It was a longer drive to Napa, but worth every minute of the drive. The sales staff (Kathy) is great! We cannot recommend enough.

I have had nothing but good experiences purchasing doors and hardware from this company over the years. Kathy Simmons is a gem!
