New home for us in Morgan Hill. Needed to replace two large sliding windows upstairs, add a new door with sidelight to create downstairs privacy for my mother in law's bedroom. Added two new small windows on either side of our fireplace. They provided materials and recommended installer. Project went perfect. Absolutely no complaints. Highly recommend.

I spoke to Mario Azevito, the owner again this afternoon. I might have spelled name wrong the first time? Since he was not returning calls, his office lady Anna was kind enough to give me the purchase order number for our faulty door. After speaking to Elena Rios at TM Cobb and giving her the purchase order number she informed me my door is not TM Cobb it did not come from them!
I am apalled at the fraud of this company. When I spoke to Mario again he told me I will have to go through his lawyer, He then said he would send Lawyer's info. Nothing yet. He is very unprofessional, does not care about the customer, does not return calls and makes comments regarding the customer personally, does not believe customer and tries to blame the customer. I just want what I paid for, a front door that is not broken or faulty. This guy is a piece of work and should not be a business owner.

- 3 out of 3 times orders were delivered with missing hardware - Wouldn't assume responsibility for the errors because errors were caught after the fact - Was told that warranty discussions with the manufacturer had been initiated. That was not true. - Viking then requested an additional $1300 to replace the jams they lost. - After we paid, status updates on jam fabrication were non-existent. - Progress was slow and required us to continually inquire for any progress to occur. - No one outside of sales would pickup our calls.
Everyone seemed to be screening calls. - It took 2 months to complete fabrication of just 2 jams. - Production again lost this round of hardware and trim. We then ate that cost. THE FULL STORY: We ordered two Jeldwen IWP high-end entry doors, complete with jams: $5000 When they arrived, we inspected the door crate contents, all was in order. Since the jam crates were pristine, we didn't open crates, (Big mistake.) The jams were not inside. Having let too much time pass, Viking assumed no responsibility for the incomplete order even though the crate contents and receipts clearly conveyed that the jams were never shipped or delivered. Bridget (sales) said she would contact IWP to see if IWP would take responsibility.
After two weeks, and numerous unreturned phone calls / emails, we contacted IWP ourselves. There was absolutely no record of Viking contacting them. I then reached out to the Viking's owner who told Bridget to contact me, she did immediately. My favorite quote from Angel (Production Supervisor) when I asked her to please check everything over before I drive over to pickup my order was: "That's not my job.
Talk to Ron on the floor." I then called Ron and guess what his response was: "That's not my job, I just work on the floor." 20min later I showed up (2:30pm) and no one was there. I had to pull some poor kid off the production floor to deal with my wrath. With not a single customer ahead of me, it took me 30min to simply pickup my doors. I wouldn't wish this situation on my worst enemies. You've been warned, good luck. Unfortunately Lou's Door is no better. Our search continues.

Agree with Peter D about waiting for months to get order, about terrible customer service. Spent nearly $10k on about 12 solid-core high-quality interior doors, with specific requirement that the doors have certain look. Special ordered "SOLID CORE FLUSH VERTICAL GRAIN RIFT CUT WHITE OAK COMB GRAIN VENEER & SOLID VENEERED EDGE" Two doors came already damaged.
Door are unfinished and will be stained clear coat, but someone had apparently spilled/dripped some dark wood stain on two doors, so have heavy streaks of stain running about 1/2 to 2/3 down the doors. One door was salvaged but the other door, due to stain having soaked in too deeply, could not be salvaged. Performance Viking Door & Window agreed to replace it.
But it took them 6 months to bring that replacement, long after my home construction was completed and long after I moved into my new home. Any quality conscious business would have taken photo of existing doors in the lot (that they delivered) and then order a replacement that would match the rest of the lot. But no, they didn;t do that. They didn't ask me to confirm the door they had obtained for me as replacement either.
So when the door came 7 months later, I was greatly surprised and displeased to see that the door grain and appearance completely does not match with rest of the doors in the house. In fact, I believe they didn't even order the right door! Looks like the door is just a 'Sliced white oak veneer', instead of RIFT-CUT White Oak veneer.
At the time, that replacement door was the only outstanding thing left in my home reconstruction, and I had (naively) paid all my bills with VPDW, so felt powerless to fight them for a 'correct' door. Also felt I had wasted enough time and energy and just want to move on with my life and enjoy living in my new home. So took the door instead of asking them to take it back.
But now I found that there is an outstanding balance on one of the bill, so with that as leverage, I ask them to replace the door with one that is rift-cut and that would match the rest of the doors in my house. But they refused to do that. I've filed a complain with Better Business Bureau of Silicon Valley. I would have given Performance Viking Door & Window just 1 star for the services they provided, but decided to give 2 stars as the workers who had come to my house were all very nice.

My friend purchased a front door set for more than $1500 and a couple years later 2 panes develop seals failing. When first speaking to a rep they said no problem - 'we'll warranty the doors to your satisfaction', but once the time was spent to remove the panes, they changed their tune. No warranty and trying to order the parts is becoming a nightmare. Performance Doors & Windows as a company doesn't perform.

This is the worst service team one could ever experience. I still have an open repair issue that has been going on for over 3 months. After leaving 3-5 voicemails for the Manager - Mario. NO returned phone calls. A service tech - Matt came to the house to tell us that their inside sales person ordered the wrong part. He claimed to put the part on order, but we have yet to hear anything.
And then there is Burt who boasted he would make sure everyone followed-up to close the issue.again, silence. I would not recommend Viking to my worst enemy and they should have their EmTek and other reseller licenses suspended for their lack of customer service. To further the point, I have sent 2 emails to their inquiry form and still no reply. There are many other places to take your business where it will be appreciated.

We had a mixed experience with Viking, but in the end they went out of their way to make it right. We ordered custom windows that didn't get measured correctly, and when they arrived, they didn't fit. But Sam went out of his way to come to our house, remeasure, and give us a deep discount on a more expensive window that we wanted to get instead. Though we took a cost hit, so did they, so it felt fair. The other items we ordered--doors and bathroom windows--were fine and on time.

Viking installed a double-door front entry and did a very nice job. The gas leaked out of one of the windows and the view became cloudy. Under warranty it took 2 years and a ton of phone calls for Viking to come back to install the manufacturer's replacement door-window. When I asked about the cloudy window in the 2nd door, Viking said the warranty had run out. No thanks. I don't know how they stay in business.

I'm confused as to why the reviews get filtered the way they do. The bad reviews on this website seem to get posted more often than the good reviews. Shouldn't they be equal? Futhermore, how old does a posted review have to be before it drops off or is replaced by a good review. Yelp is BS. Decide for yourself, don't take the word of a computer program!

We ordered all windows, interior doors, 3 exterior swinging doors and our main entry door for our new construction in San Jose. Kevin from Viking gave excellent service by walking me thru all the details that are involved when ordering doors and windows. This is the lowest bid I got and they gave me a an even better price after I decided to go ahead with them.
They provided me with excellent service even before they got my order. These are some things I suggest people do -- Call up ahead and take an appointment -- that way someone will work with you and answer all your questions. If you are just dropping in, then be prepared to wait as most sales folks give out appointments in advance. They came out to the job site and measured everything before placing he order.
After all the windows were in, and in a later stage of the project we wanted to add another window -- and Viking managed to get in one extra window in a very short amount of time for the same price as another window. They installed my Jeld-Wen front door and they did a fantastic job on the whole project. I'm extremely happy with their service and have already recommended a few friends who in turn are happy with the service.

This is the first time I'm seeing these reviews for Viking and its nice to know. at least the experience is consistent for others. These guys have a lot to learn about customer service. Staff is very slow to respond and borderline unhelpful when asked for simple questions such as how much will this cost me? Well, I have to wait 2 weeks for the quote to find out - and if I want to change something, wait another 2 weeks for the answer. Yes, they have a fabulous showroom and you want to order everything on the spot.
But unfortunately if you come on the weekend, like we did, the staff can not be bothered to help you. The warehouse/showroom was empty, there were several employees, and none of them bothered to help us. When we waited at the front desk for the woman who was reading something to look up and ask us if we needed anything, we were ignored. This should have been our first sign that this company does not need our business. Sad.

Just over 4 years ago we purchased 17 windows, two sliding glass doors, three exterior doors, and 9 interior doors from Viking. All but 2 of the doors were custom. We spent several thousand dollars. Flash-forward to two weeks ago when we discovered one of the smaller windows had randomly shattered. Because we'd purchased from Viking, I called Viking and spoke to one of the sales guys.
He assured me he would have all the information I needed and email me with it by end of business that day--which gave him about 7 hours. Two days went by and I called him back. He said he hadn't heard back from Millgard about my window, hence no email but mentioned he could send out one of their guys to look at it for $90/hour. I mentioned how much money we'd spent in there and that it'd be nice if he could throw us a bone and just send someone.
So then he refers me to his manager, Bob. Let me just say Bob is a piece of work. When he called me back he was already confrontational. I mentioned I wanted to know why the window had broken and he replies, "There's no way to tell." So I retort, "And you can tell this without even looking at it?" Anyway, the conversation just went downhill during which he became condescending and even more confrontational.
He also said a few things that were indirect contrast to what his sales guy had said. He finally barked out the number for Millgard and suggested I call there myself. I called Millgard and after a few minutes on the phone with a great rep named Carrie, Millgard offered to come fix the window for free. I asked her if there'd been an inquiry about this window from Viking.
And guess what.not a peep. So, Viking had lied to me in addition to treating me poorly. Millgard on the other hand, totally rocked! And, they're service guy was in, done and gone before the appointment window was even to have begun. I will never do business with Viking again and I'd recommend to anybody with half a brain not to do business with them. Their service was horrible.

Just wanted to echo some of the comments others have mentioned, and I have dealt with them since they used to be located on 5th St. and now at their 10th St. showroom and somethings never change. Such as, Viking's customer service is not very good, they over-promise on delivery and when items don't arrive on time, they don't assume any responsibility nor do they believe in doing anything about it.
They are bad at returning calls, and any mistakes or damage is never their fault. Also agree they seem to prefer dealing with contractors, individual homeowners don't seem to get anywhere near the level of attention or service. Prospective customers, there are better options out there.

I needed a new front door. I saw the so-so reviews here, but decided to give Viking a try anyway. Went into Viking; a friendly lady helped me pick out a door and place an order. I was told that someone would call "within 24 hours" to schedule an appointment to come out and measure. Five days later no call. I called them back, and was told again that someone would call "today or tomorrow".
Four days later. no call. So I marched back down to Viking and told them I wanted to cancel my order. That got the owner's attention. He indicated that they had subcontracted installation work out to a "sister company", and that it just wasn't working out. He promised that if I let them fill the order they would handle it in-house rather than contracting it out, and I would be impressed with the results. Based on that, I said "ok".
From that point on things went quite well. Everything that they said would happen did - on time or slightly ahead of schedule. The door was installed in a very professional manner and looks fantastic. I am extremely pleased with the door. I guess my advice would be to "trust but verify" as Reagan famously said. If they say they'll do something, let them do it - but if they miss a commitment, even by a little bit, complain immediately.

If you like to wait months for your order to be delivered, if you like to receive incomplete orders, if you like terrible customer service, then viking is for you. Their selection and showroom might fool you, but once you place an order with them expect all hell to break loose (see above). I highly recommend that you AVOID viking for your door and window needs.
I know for a fact that I will never go here again, NEVER. One more thing, ever read their testimonials on their website? Most (if not all) of their testimonials come from contractors. This tells me that they will bend over backwards to please contractors that spend a lot of money there, but for regular customers, they barely give you the time of day.

It's been a roller coaster ride working with Viking. Viking has a great selection of products and a really nice showroom. The customer service was pretty good in the beginning, however I have had to be on top of them the entire time to ensure even the estimates got to me in a timely manner (i.e. within 2 weeks!) and it got worse and then better as I continued to work with them.
I am really disappointed with how long everything took. I placed the order for 16 doors (13 interior and 3 exterior) on 12/15/08 and was told that they would be ready to be installed the first week of January. The doors didn't arrive until February 4th. The installer that they referred to us was hard to get a hold of, and ended up standing us up!
And then when we finally got our own installer, our order was (1) incomplete, (2) one of the door knobs was defective, and (3) the original order was not measured accurately and we were short half the amount of interior molding that we needed. It was really hard to get this situation rectified, and it took a lot of stress and time on the phone with their CEO.
Their customer service could use some major improvement, but in the end Viking did make an effort to finally rectify the situation. Today is 02/24/09 and its the first day since dealing with Viking that I feel their customer service has improved. I am now satisfied with an apology and their offer to pay for the missing deadbolt, keying of those deadbolts, install of the replacement door knob, and a refund on the additional molding that we had to buy to finish the job. Needless to say this is the 4th time I have revised this review (hopefully for the last time). It's been difficult dealing with Viking and I would be careful dealing with them in the future; I can only hope that they will learn from this experience and better their customer service in the future.

One star for a nice showroom and large selection. The staff didn't seem to be on the same page. One salesperson told me one thing, while another told me something different. Moving on, I select a door, based on price and estimated time delivery, as we need the door by a certain time. One, the door arrives about a month late and that holds up the other work that needs to be completed and two, the door is missing the special-order sidelights that we paid extra money for.
The salesperson tells me that I can go ahead and have the door installed and when the sidelights are ready, have those installed later. "So I paid for a completely constructed piece and now it's coming separately? My contractor does not feel comfortable installing the sidelights separately as he doesn't want to be responsible if they break." I literally am given the run-around when I want to speak to the manager.
They connect me to a "Dave, " where I leave a voicemail. I call back and am connected to another "Dave, " who says I must have left the message with the other "Dave" because he never got my message. No joke, I ask to speak to the other "Dave, " and he claims to have never gotten a message, either. Their prices for baseboards and crown molding are reasonable, but I would beware of doing any special orders.
