I am Richard The Door Guy and I have been providing top quality door installations at affordable prices since 1988. I have been serving San Luis Obispo County, California since 1999, doing both commercial and residential work.I install all types of entry, french and interior doors prehung or fitting doors to existing openings.
These doors can be made of fiberglass, wood or steel, vinyl or a combination of materials.
I have the skills and experience to help you plan an entire door project from beginning to end and supply all doors and hardware OR I happily install doors and locks that you may have found online or at a local supplier.
I do door repairs, service and adjustments and have solved many nagging water intrusion problems using quality specialized weatherstripping products carefully installed. I can make stuck wood windows work again or replace them with new ones built in the same style.
My favorite projects are one of a kind entry systems. These are custom doors, often with sidelites or transoms, that have been designed and built to compliment an architectural style.
I enjoy adapting antique doors and hardware to new settings to create interesting architectural designs.

Richard repaired 2 exterior doors and replaced 2 others. He was so thorough and methodical. He basically rebuilt one of our door frames for one of the doors because he thought we wouldn't have been happy with the end result otherwise. I'm so happy he went the extra mile. We are more than satisfied with all 4 doors. We didn't even realize how badly we needed new weather stripping around the doors!
The first cold morning after the door repairs, our house was considerably warmer than before! He is very reasonably priced for the work he does. We are so happy with the results! Thanks, Richard!

Richard is professional and knowledgable about all things doors. We had him install our custom made front door. We spent quite a bit of money to have it made and needed a skilled craftsmen to install it correctly. He completed the job in one day and we love it! Richard C, "the Door Guy", Paso Robles, 805-773-1175, was called to repair a broken door manufactured by Bede Windows and Doors of Oceanside, CA. The door has precise German technology, possessing 3 hinges and 4 locking mechanisms, weighing 160 pounds, truly a remarkable product, but creating a challenge to repair. The Door Guy worked with Bede tech support and successfully repaired a broken hinge and one of the locking mechanisms. I am always impressed with a positive outcomes. Richard's performance deserves the 5 stars.

Richard The Door Guy Repaired My front double doors on my house which were leaking air and were loose. Richard put in new locks and weather stripping, Richard made those look like new they don't rattle anymore and they don't leak air. Richard also put on new locks on the door that goes from the house int the Garage. He fix the master bath door that was sticking and rubbing against the frame. Richard is an old time craftsman, his work Van has all of his tools neatly organized like you could expect from an old time craftsman. I recommend Richard to anyone. Wyn Sears

This time, I needed to replace a door on my new house. Another contractor told me I would need to replace the door frame and stucco and it would cost thousands of dollars. Richard figured out the right door, and simply replaced it.
As others have said, he is very experienced, does a great job, and cleans up completely. I have complete confidence that this door will be perfect for many years to come, too.

Richard worked on 5 of our doors and did a great job fixing issues where we had leaks from heavy rains, sticking and squeaks. He did what he said he would do when he said he would do it and cleaned up well. He is very meticulous and analytical when determining causes of problems and won't stop until he gets it right.

Richard saved the day (and our door). We found this beautiful "speakeasy" style door which we ordered through Home Depot who sent out their guy to measure but it came in the wrong size. Richard figured out a way to make it fit in our doorway without cutting into our door frame and did a terrific job. He is experienced and knows his stuff

I found Richard on the internet and asked for an estimate on replacing 2 entry doors in my home. He showed up and listened to my wishes and had some suggestions of manufacturers and paints and Hardware. We came to an agreement that I should order the doors and have them shipped to my home and he would install and provide materials for installation.
We are more then pleased with a professional job that had presented and overcome several obstacles which Richard handled with care and professional finish. Richard was a real pleasure to work with. He was highly informative before and throughout the installation process which made things go very smoothly. Richard did amazing work. I went into the door shopping process with no expectations. I stopped at the box stores, looked at pre-hung doors, thought of doing it myself -- perhaps even making my own door. After we talked with Richard he grounded us in the reality of the situation and made some suggestions as to door type due to exposure, etc. that we had not taken into account. Furthermore, he took his time when he came to do the estimate.
It was clear that he likes what he does. At the end of the day, you might be able to find cheaper installers, but I think you would be hard pressed to find someone who actually cared as much as Richard, and who clearly takes great pride in his work. He doesn't sell extras, he doesn't press or pressure, he just says it as it is, and then follows that with good, honest work.

Richard the Door Guy was recommended to us by family and he responded promptly, discussing our new entry door project by phone, followed by a visit when he took precise measurements and answered all questions in detail. He picked up the new door for us. Then we we discovered the lock we purchased added complications to his installation so he took time before the installation day to work out the lock's exacting requirements.
The installation went smoothly even with our added challenge. Our new door fits handsomely due to his efforts. Lock set and trim were precisely fitted after checking with us as to handle placements.
