Horrible customer service. Their installer installed a defected window that he knew about. I contacted the customer service who sent a repair guy to fix the window which didnt work. The company refused to refund but offered me a replacement. It would be my ressponsibility to find someone to install the window. Never do business with Kolbe again. If I were you, run run run and save your money.

The Forgent team is outstanding. Alissa S. is always willing to review orders and ensure that they are correct. I received a phone call last week regarding an order that was in production. The production staff noticed a small configuration error and called to ask which method my customer wanted to correct it. That doesn't happen with any other window company I use.

I was an employee for Kolbe for over two years. By far it was the absolute worst experience I have ever endured. Management definitely makes it almost unbearable. They play favorites and don't care about you as an employee. They want thier numbers and thats it. I was shunned for shedding a little light into my personal life when I was going through a rough patch. Was told during my review to keep personal things to myself.
The little pep meetings they do in the morning are terrible. They literally cuss you out and talk at you, not to you. Also to note, if you are hard working they will use you 110% to thier advantage. Hopping you around from department to department without any pay increase. At any other job when you are trained in a new position, you get a pay increase.
Not here. The last thing I will say is the yearly bonus they hype up is bull. The first year there it was less than $300, the 2nd year there, nothing, yet they could afford to do unnecessary add ons to make the building more "pretty". Trust me, it is not worth the pain and suffering!

Definitely never get these windows. My heart sank when I looked at a house and saw it had kolby & kolby windows in it. It was newer than my parents house that they also had bought kolby windows for and I actually meticulously stained and varnished inside and out for them when installed. So I knew what I would be in for. They hold water for days after it rains rotting out the bottom of the sash.
I will be removing a gasket in hopes air flow drying them out. The other thing I was waiting to happen with mine was the random exploding windows. My parents had an inside pane explode so we know it was nothing hitting the glass. Well with the cold winter I finally had the first exploding one here. I guess I was prepared but it seems to me a shame that a local made company can't seem to get things right and absolutely refuses to improve their product or admit any fault.
Kind of ironic if they really have quality great products that the exact same thing has happened here to my kolby products. I've had 50 year old homes with windows that didn't explode or rot out like this. Stay far far away.

DON'T BUY KOLBE WINDOWS! We have aluminum clad wood casement windows from Kolbe and Kolbe! They had a 10-yr warranty and at 13 years we noticed rotting bottom sashes. We found that the bottom half of the window was only HALF finished at production. However, the fact that moisture seeped in and is deteriorating the wood is OUR fault because we didn't inspect them - according to the rep at Kolbe!
We did maintenance painting on the interior of the sashes over the last 4-5 years but never expected that the bottom had been left unfinished - so they "had a place to stamp in the serial number of the window"! Unbelievable! Who would manufacture windows and leave half a sash BARE wood!? They will do nothing to remedy the situation - even though all I asked was for them to cover the cost of having the bottom sash on the 21 windows painted.
That seemed a small cost for standing behind their product. There are other problems as well - poorly fitting screens, cranks that work hard or stop before the window is totally open, latches the grind the wood framing when you lock or unlock the window. These are just not quality and they do NOT stand behind their product. We'll be replacing them with Anderson or Pella and wish we'd bought either of those to begin with. Very dissatisfied!

I replaced all the window in my Gulf coast house this summer with Kolbe Forgent Missile D Impact windows, sliders and DH, we replaced every window. We went through hurricane Sally (120 mph winds) and Zeta (85 mph winds). As you can imagine there were debris flying everywhere, we sustained no exterior damage to the windows in either event and there was not even a speck of dust or dirt on the inside of the windows, my wife couldn't believe it.
This post is a testament to the quality and efficiency of the Forgent windows, I'm a believer in Kolbe window product. Kolbe did a great job engineering and developing the Forgent window which I believe to be the finest window in it's class of vinyl and fiberglass competitors. Amazing product.

I've spent close to $100,000 on Kolbe windows in the past 4 years and I do not see buying or recommending them again. I live in Pittsburgh and each of the 4 projects that I've done in my house I've had issues with their products and more importantly their service. Each time we had a problem they had to have a 'Rep' come out and see what went wrong and then another person has to come and fix it.
Of course that reps territory is the entire northeast so you have to wait forever. Last project, the seal between the glass and the frame had separated and I waited 8 months for them to view the problem and then come and fix it. In the meantime, water had consistently been coming into my house and damaged my wood floors. Multiples pieces had to be replaced and I was told that they don't cover that.
If they had fixed the problem in less than 8 months I wouldn't have to have replaced any boards. I could go on about different problems and the most recent problem I had (which I'm still waiting for resolution after 2 months) but It just seems to come down to poor customer service and even worse response times. They have nice windows, and they do fix their problems, but it just isn't worth the hassle to use them any more.

I just got done ordering some replacement hinges from Kolbe Windows & Doors. I was impressed with the speedy reply from their customer service. Kelly and Val were specially nice to work with, and I was able to get my order processed with no problems. I am very happy with the whole experience. I am also thrilled the company has John 3:16 posted on their website. Bold Faith is rare to find these days. Thank you for shining your light!

We are currently restoring an older home with a Kolbe bay window from the early 1980's. It had a broken sash and I was able to order an EXACT replacement for it (perfect size, exterior color etc.). I was blown away that Kolbe could still make me the window and it would fit so perfectly. It even had pre-drilled holes so I knew precisely where to attach the old hardware. My daughter and I had it installed in 15 minutes. Great Job Kolbe!
