Me and my wife are both disabled and on a very tight budget, their rep were very aware of this. The rep who I think was the owner but I can't say for sure told us he had some kind of cards that could only be used toward the purchase of roofing supplies and that this made it so we could save money now and would not likely be able to do so if we waited.
Our understanding was we were applying for a loan with a bank and it turned out to be a credit card with a 28.99% or so interest rate on any additional purchases (which of course they offered) toward future home improvements. They financed us through of all places a collection agency which may have been noted but was not specifically mentioned. I assumed there would be some interest to pay but I was not told about it, I simply trusted them.
I had told them implicitly that if it cost a dollar more then what he had said we would have to look around a bit more before we made our final decision. The installers showed up late, one guy over an hour and the boss spent a majority of the day yelling at his workers that they needed to hurry up. When they were done they left nails everywhere and I ended up with three flat tires in a very short period that were all caused by roofing nails.
I also found pieces of the old roof and plastic all over our yard and in our bushes from the packaging/tear off. This in spite of picking the stuff up while they were working and I am still finding stuff to this day. For whatever reason my eaves were partially attached to the roof by strips of aluminum, they didn't do this and I have no idea if this was right or wrong but instead of removing them they detached them from the roof and left them sticking up in the air in several places on the roof.
There was a considerable amount of materials that we paid for, much unopened when they were done and which I had paid for and when they were cleaning up they simply threw ti in the back of one of the trucks they came here in. I asked if I would receive a credit for it and was told by one of the workers that the boss would get back to me which never happened unless you consider them contacting me today trying to get me to have them do more work on our house.
I was cleaning the gutters earlier this year and though I can't say for certain I noticed a spot that seems to move side to side, up and down when I shift my weight from one leg to the other, I don't know if this is normal. Their inspector was fairly impolite when he got here and really did not comment when I expressed my grievances, my impression was that he was annoyed.
I could be wrong, I know I was. He did remove the pieces attached to the gutter and said it was not their job really when I asked why they left them. He gave me a business card which I threw in the trash before he was 50 yards away. If we had made the minimum payment we would have ended up paying somewhere around 3-4 thousand just in interest. We were later told by another company that we probably were charged nearly twice what we should have payed.
We basically feel like we have been robbed, but maybe this is how roofing companies work, we are first time home owners. We have learned never to just accept the first offer as a great offer, but it wasn't a cheap mistake.

These guys are amazing! Thank you Ed for my grandparents new roof! Your ridge venting made them not even have to run their AC but just a couple times this past summer due to how cool it kept their home! You guys are the only ones with a 50 year shingle and a 50 year labor warranty! DO NOT BE FOOLED BY ANY COMPETITOR! These guys are in a top notch class of their own!

Summary: Five stars for Ed (the owner or manager), two stars for the care that the crew took while doing the job. Ed was very accommodating and willing to move around the schedule to fit in an extreme circumstance we had, and get the job done in a single day. However, the crew seemed to care very little. I understand accidents (like the broken bushes) are inevitable, and hard to prevent all of the time.
But on top of things like the above, there was roof tar splattered all over the garage door, siding of the house, and the ac unit. After I mentioned this to Ed about a week after the job, he sent someone out to take care of it, which resulted in the black splatters turning into permanent dark stains (see attached pictures). Also, at one point when I went to the house during the job, one of the crewman was sitting on the truck smoking marijuana. Very unprofessional to do it in the owner's driveway. The crew needs a better project manager.
