Harold Bergstrom settled in Santa Rosa in 1948 and while working as a carpenter hanging doors at local job-sites, he realized that the job could be done more efficiently if he didn't have to set up his tools and jigs at a new job-site everyday. So, he built a wooden door-hanging machine in 1953 and Bergy Door Company was founded. He would pre-hang doors in his little shop (a converted turkey shed) at night after work and then deliver them to the job-site in his 1946 International Harvester truck the next day where he would install them.

I'm a GC and I ordered a really easy to build commercial flat panel stain grade double door. I ordered it in April and just now received the doors and hardware myself (mid -July) and had to build it myself due to unprimed flat jamb stock being unavailable for 3 months? Weird how I was able to build the door jamb and set all the hardware in a day and a half with my employees.
I know there are supply issues going on right now. But the lack of communication from Bergy was unacceptable. I was told a ready date about 10 different times even told it was ready once and I drove from Marin to Santa Rosa only to be told the door had been damaged and it would be ready next week. My suggestion for future is, if you don't know when something is going to arrive communicate that to your customers and offers options to them such as: Would you like to cancel your order? or can call your client to explain what is going on? to take the strain off situation.
I was trying to plan my business where i have to keep employees busy and keeping my customers informed relaying the info of what I was being told by the representative at Bergy. At this point I don't know if I'll ever be hired again by that customer because I was made to look like a complete ass for breaking the planned schedule for 3 months straight while we hoped to receive the doors.
After waiting so long I said just give me the doors and hardware we'll build it ourselves. Surprisingly I was able to get all of that within a week. Sorry but If your running a door shop building a flat jamb with a stop should have been a very easy job to do but for some reason Bergy likes to jerk their customers around. I will never, ever use this company again.

I am very dissatisfied with the product and service from Bergy door. Many years ago I purchased and beautiful entry door from them, and I was thrilled with the outcome. When I needed a new fire door in December, I used them once again, and the service from Sergio was friendly and helpful. Fast forward a couple of months and now I am in the middle of replacing all of my interior doors.
Because I wanted a good product and a because I wanted to support a local business, I was willing to pay the extra dollar to get the quality I wanted. When all nine doors were delivered, four of them were flawed from the TM Cobb factory. Sergio came to the house and agreed to replace them, but at the cost of time to me, because now my project was to take 2 weeks longer waiting for doors.
When the replacement doors came in, 2 of them were bowed in the middle. These are solid core doors. I do not think I should settle for doors that bend in the middles.especially at the price I paid, which was significantly more than the big box home improvement stores. It seemed begrudgingly, but Sergio agreed to replace the two bowed doors. Now the second 2 week window has passed by and we have not heard if the doors are in. Bergy and Sergio are not returning our calls. I am a very unhappy customer. I've heard that this company was recently sold. Based on what has happened to me, I would not be recommending them to anyone I know.

I've been helping a friend with a remodel that required a new pre-hung door. We ordered the door from Bergy, thinking they've been in business quite a while and we like to shop local. We're now at a standstill since the door was promised 4 business days ago and, after leaving several voicemail messages (that were not returned), I was finally able to get someone to pick up the phone; I was told that the door may be ready in another week, but no promises.
I'm willing to change this review if Bergy steps up and has the door done within the next couple of days, otherwise this review will stand. My guess is this is an issue of poor management and I'm surprised that they've been able to stay in business as long as they have.

My experience has been very similar to other reviewers. I ordered one door and I was told it would be ready on a date that is now four business days in the past. I called, was told they'd check on the door and get back to me, but I never heard from them. I called them two more times, both calls went straight to voice mail, so I left messages, they never returned my calls.
Finally today got someone to answer the phone, door still isn't ready, may not be ready for another week. Man at front desk is nice (as other reviews said) but this company is apparently poorly managed and I will never do business with them again.

I ordered just two doors. First one took 6 weeks, second one was told was ready drove up from Novato, was told not done. No one called me What a waste of time and very poor customer service. Man at the front is nice. Still waiting for a call back. I would not recommend this door company. They must be on their way out of business

INCOMPETENT and INDIFFERENT. I was looking for a local Sierra window supplier to complete a job. I needed 3 large windows (about $4,000). We visited the showroom, dropped off CAD drawings and were told we'd get a quote 'tomorrow'. A week later when we followed up we were told they were just doing it but had been interrupted and we'd have it 'this afternoon'.
Another week later, following emails and calls we were told it would be ready 'later today' (Friday). We eventually got it Monday afternoon. It was about 50% higher than we were expecting. That was because they quoted us for 5 windows! Based on their sheer INCOMPETENCE and INDIFFERENCE we decided not to buy from them. (If you're looking for Sierra Windows use North Bay Plywood in Napa: we got everything done with them in 48 hours.)

If you are looking for a custom door manufacturer, keep looking and avoid this place at all costs! As a general contractor who used this manufacturer for custom doors on a very big job, we had a terrible experience. The new owner/operator and his staff made many errors to custom doors that were not corrected and ultimately cost my firm time and money to fix.
When it came time to go to court, (yes we had to go to court to recoup our costs), the owner tried to come up with fake bills to offset what we were suing for. Dishonest and a complete lack of professionalism. Save yourself time and money and look elsewhere.

We purchased 2 sets of different size custom closet doors. The person working the front desk was very helpful explaining the different door design options. We had some issues with the initial price quoted (it was only for half the doors).but we decided to move forward with the purchase. The order took a little longer than quoted but when I called to get a status the girl was super friendly and let me know the updated date.
The doors were ready a little sooner than the updated date. I saw the Yelp reviews after our order was placed and was very nervous. The doors have been installed and look fabulous. We didn't know they would be solid core doors (super heavy due to size) but they're great. Would've been great to know this before ordering.they didn't tell us but I also never asked! We're pleased.

Our contractor recommended Bergy Door 10 years ago while he was working on a non-door related job at our house. This year we had a remodel job that involved replacing all three of our exterior doors. We remembered his previous recommendation and went to Bergy to place an order. That's when the problems started. While we were shopping, we were told that the doors we wanted would only take about 5 days to arrive from the manufacturer and maybe another week to prepare for installation.
When I came back to place the order I was told it would be two weeks before the doors arrived in their shop, then another week or more before they would be ready to install. I thought, Okay, fine, and placed the order anyway. Three weeks pass with no word from Bergy. I called to check on the order and they said the doors had not come in yet. I called a week later and they still had not arrived.
Our contractor started calling on our behalf. After three or four calls, someone at Bergy finally admitted to him that one of the doors was on backorder. Had we been informed, we could have picked a different door. This goes on for weeks, literally weeks. Our job was delayed, we had to reschedule floor installation, which pushed back painting and counter-tops.
The pre-hung doors finally arrived and are installed now. They are very attractive. However, the holes for the doorknob latch and the deadbolt on all three doors are misaligned, so you have to jiggle the door in and out to get the deadbolt to engage after locking the knob. We found out the hard way that the Bergy Door of today is not the Bergy Door of 10 years ago. Our contractor stopped recommending them when the business changed hands several years ago. He now recommends Mead Clark Door, in case you're wondering.

From 2012 to 2014, I ordered three custom doors from Bergy. Two of the three were not completed on schedule, and each door has had issues that Bergy was unwilling to resolve. Customer service is nonexistent, and staff is argumentative when issues are reported; they deny any responsibility. Prices are high compared to some other "mom and pop" door shops in the area.
I agree with others' poor reviews and suggest you look elsewhere for quality doors from a shop that understands customers' concerns about cost, schedules, quality, and communication. This one gets an "F" in all four.

If you were looking for the good old Bergy Door of old town Santa Rosa, CA you've found it but run! If anything goes wrong with your order here which is highly likely good luck hearing back via phone call or having any sort of efficient time frame to work it out. Take your money elsewhere plenty of better door shops locally that aren't SHADY and or SKETCH. Witnessed a customer in the Bergy Door and Window Showroom ranting and raving about he was going to sue them over a return they wouldn't honor.
All in all this place is a nightmare for the local door business and small families who may not be familiar with other options around. IF YOU WANT SERVICE DONT COME HERE ***PS DONT PARK TOWARD THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING OWNER IS TOO CHEAP TO FIX OVERFLOWING SEPTIC TANK AND IT WREAKS!***

THE WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I dropped off a door I needed to replace, and paid an additional $20 to get a rush on it. I called back the day before I was supposed to pick it up, and Ali in the office told me the door was on back order, and would not be ready the following day. So, I decided to just pick it up. When I picked it up, Ali charged me a 25% penalty fee on the prepaid total. I will never do business with this company again, and will let my friends and family know this company has the worse customer service ever!

My contractor ordered some doors from Bergy Door & Window. We experienced confusion and different answers. I stopped in the show room to get to the bottom of it. You can hardly find the entrance and it is in the ghetto on Santa Rosa Avenue. I talked with some man who said he was a employee. He looked like he lived under a bridge. He had long greasy hair and a mullet. His clothes were extremely dirty! Unprofessional and scary place to go!

Run not walk from Bergy Doors. We have had nothing but trouble from start to finish and the finish is still a ways away thanks to them. Perhaps its was just one of their sales clerks that was in over his head, but form the start: ordering hardware, windows and doors was a nightmare. What we ordered 80% came back incorrect and to this day we are still waiting on orders we told would be to us weeks ago. The Home Depot has never looked so good!

Bergy needs to work on staffing and customer service. I called to get a quote on have some work done on a door. I explained what I needed done and was quoted a price over the phone. When I drove there, from out of town mind you, the counter help was less than helpful when I didn't remember who it was that I spoke to. What I was originally quoted and what the counter help quoted me was TWICE the price.
When he spoke to his co-worker, he told him "this has happened 3 times this week. Please remember to log customer phone quotes into the computer." So apparently I wasn't the only customer.this week! I was recommended by a local general contractor to use Bergy. I wouldn't recommend them or their service, however. But if you do, get a name whenever you get a phone quote. For whatever that may be worth.
